Here are a couple of not to good pics of my home built Savage in 243 win. I have built 3 of these, and they all consistently shoot in the 3's for 5 shots. This one is in a H.S.
Precision stock with AI mag system and a 26 inch McGowan prefit barrel. The Accutrigger lets off at 14 ounces. It amazes me every time I shoot one of these rifles that something
I built at home with hand tools and a headspace guage can shoot like this. It is nothing that can make you happier than shooting and watching all your shots bughole.
Thanks for listening to me brag guys as I just had to share it with somebody that understands.
Never heard of a GAS. Plenty of GAP's, but never a GAS. If it does that @ 200yds everytime with factory ammo, I have a quite a few Spencer, Tooley builds in 6PPC & 6BR I'll trade for it, and you should be on the leader boards for several BR comps.
Ok guys I thought you would know I was kidding about the GAS thing. They were not factory loads, they were Nosler 105 gr custom competition bullets loaded in Norma unturned virgin brass with TULA primers in a 243 win. I bought a Savage model 10 and screwed the barrel off and replaced it with a McGowan savage prefit varmint contour 26 inch barrel. I installed it myself with a headspace gauge and set the locknut at minimum headspace. I put this in a HS Precision tactical stock and added the custom bottom metal with the AI Mags. I have about 1300.00 invested in the rifle itself. It now has a nightforce nxs 5.5 x 22 x 56 scope on it instead of the weaver tactical in the picture. I have built 3 of them now in 6mm br Norma, 243 win and 308 win and they all shoot like this with their favorite loads.
I just call them my GAS rifles because I have been lucky enough to build 3 of them that will shoot like a GAP.
