I spent 10 years enlisted in the Marine Corps and then went to the "dark side". I had this pistol made to commemorate my commissioning. It took quite some time to complete as the gentleman who began the project was unable to finish it due to health problems. His friend, Matt McLearn (M2i customs) was gracious enough to get it done. My deepest thanks to them both for the amazing work- thought I would share...

I've waited 2 years for my child to finally come home. She will now be kept airtight and double locked.

So you waited 2 years for a firearm you will never shoot? That's cool....

Re: My new prized possession...

BTW, so I don't steal anyone's "biggest dick" award, any of you are more than welcome to come out and shoot it with me if you'll be in the Styx River, AL area Saturday noon. (Note: Rounds not provided. Nice try tho)

Think that through. You really think you'd be any competition around this joint?

Nice piece, BTW. Other than the obvious Caspian frame/slide, care to share some specs?

Re: My new prized possession...

Congrats on becoming a Zero, the hard work and dedication to serve our Country is well respected, Sir!

Nice pistol, now wear it out, shoot it until it bocomes a sloppy two peso whore, then shoot it some more.

Re: My new prized possession...

hehe, to the first question, Veer- not really.

for the second:
Absolutely- this pistol is nearly identical (by my request) to one they made for my father a decade ago when Matt still lived in Tulsa.

As noted- slide/frame from Caspian stock. 6" longslide, hybrid barrel-obvious ports, magwell, polished chamber, breech face, and feed ramp (re-cut), match trigger, ISMI #16 recoil spring, dehorned for carry (really?), Operator II's by VC Grips, Ambidextrous safety(I'm a lefty and self-taught righty), extended mag release, Salt Bath Nitride treated by MMI Trutech,

That's about the extent of what I know about it, other than it is rock solid. I expected the same professional quality firearm as my father's pistol and I was not let down. I started this project when I was still in The Basic School playing guns in the "highlands of Quantico". I paid for parts as they were needed but otherwise have been in the dregs of the training workhorse, which I still reside in today (currently flight school). This Saturday will be my first off in a very long time and this pistol will make it that much more enjoyable.

Re: My new prized possession...

A very nice piece. I'd like to know how well you perceive the porting to work.

Congratulations on coming to the Dark Side. Sure, you don't get to blow stuff up as often, but the jobs you can do as an O are pretty awesome in their own right. And it does do a better job of supporting expensive hobbies.

Re: My new prized possession...

Took this beast out this weekend and it was remarkable. Although I shot some very nice groups, I am very excited to improve my skill bc it is surely more capable than I am. As far as the hybrid barrel, Stiletto, it functions just as my father's- I could consistently engage with minimal muzzle climb while maintaining target acquisition. Couldn't be happier.

Matt is one awesome guy and an even better 1911 smith

Re: My new prized possession...

Haha, lost track of time shooting this with some friends today at the range. Only had about 30 min to sight in my rifle (new scope). I couldn't be happier with this gun. Thanks for all the comments guys.
