I want to build a .416 weatherby shooting a 375 grn cuttingedge bullet with a B.C of .825. Ill be pushing it 2800 fps. What's your opinion? Not many think of the .416 wm as a longrange hammer.
Good luck. Why not go with the 378 Weatherby, cut off the belt, change shoulder, not venturified, and make a Kubla Kahn. Belted cartridges are a thing of the past.
the case capacities are identical or nearly so. So I don't see why you couldn't. I thought about doing this a then realized shooting a lightish hunting rifle prone like this wouldn't be very fun for me. If you kept the weight up and put on a good muzzle break it would be workable.
I have a 416 rigby I had the idea to make a 1000 yard gun
I bought 350 grain and 400 grain jgs bullets I shot the
350 gr bullet at just over 2800ft with 109 grains of n 560
powder with no presure signs but the 400 gr bullit needs
10 twist so they went sidewais at 100 yards from a 16 twist
I plan to get my a 10 twist barrel soon
