I'd like to contribute my customer service experience that I had with Paul and Chris of Premier Reticles.
I recently acquired my first Premier Reticles Heritage 3-15x50. It was a very early model that had went in for the typical refit of the turrets and parrallax, and subsequently never used. I was the first to actually put a round on the scope. I had my first opportunity to use it this weekend.
It is a high dollar scope and performed as anyone would expect it too, with the exception of the flip up on the ocular. It simply did not work correctly, and as everyone who has any experience with a PH knows, they are less than perfect. I should state that it did not fall off, but rather the spring in it had turned out the interior of the actual hinge on the cap and it would no longer "flip open." While I am not a design engineer, it would appear that the cap was made with either too little material as the result of a contruction flaw, or too soft of a material as the result of a design flaw.
It is going with me on a trip starting next week, and I PCC/PCI'd it before going, and while I've never HAD to replace any battery in any of my illuminated scopes, I decided to install a new one just to be safe. Well, in my ignorance, I did not know that the slot on the battery cover is actually perfectly machined to use the replacement battery to open it up. It is wide to accomodate the 2032 lithium battery. Well, the widest coin I could find was a nickel, which was too narrow, but I used it anyways. It was on tight, as it should be, but in the process of opening it up, I really butchered it. So much so, that I didn't know if I would be able to get it off again once I put it back on. I cannot say for sure that it was installed tight by PR or by a previous owner. In all actuality, the only person to blame for the customization is myself as I was using a "square peg in a round hole."
I contacted PR via their email address on their website and explained the situation. That was on Saturday, maybe Sunday. First thing Monday morning (today), Paul emailed me back, informing me that the new battery cover and flip up would be sent out TODAY so that I would have it by the time I leave next Monday.
Bottom line, they took care of me immediately, even when given a tight time frame to work with and a destroyed battery cap on account of operator error. I know people have voiced their problems with PR's CS in the past, and they have every right to. My experience, albeit minor, was above reproach. I don't expect this to change the minds of people that have had bad experiences in the past, but my thanks to Paul and Chris of PR who took care of a little guy who can't open a battery cover and for replacing a poorly working ocular flip up.
