I commend you for your efforts in trying to change people's mindsets about guns, especially in CA. And what better way than with a .22? With a bad-ass looking .22! So many people are scared of guns, think they represent nothing but death and destruction, and to show them how fun they can be is our greatest asset to our sport. Take a left-leaning newbie and put them behind a .408 and I guarantee they will never want to be near another firearm. Let them do some plinking with yours, and I'll bet they'd have a different opinion.

I fully support a Take a Democrat to the Range Day (which is totally different than my Take a Democrat Hunting Day, by the way). Keep up the good work!

And some free advice: lean into that 12 ga, square up, dominant-side foot only slightly back, get a real aggressive stance. Weight on the balls of your feet, squeeze the trigger and let it go off, don't make it fire. Drive into it, don't let the recoil push you back. Keep your head on the stock as it recoils and practice getting the sights back on target immediately.

Re: My tactical gun cart

dont worry TOP, we settled this in the hot box last night and i think we're in good terms.

im definitely not a punk kid or an old fart. early 30, IT professional with a wife and kid. im the bald guy in the vids test firing my conversions. rest of the people in the vids are either family members or my coworkers who are first time shooters.

im getting more people who arent into guns to shoot with me. especially starting them off with an evil looking .22 with little to no recoil. then move them up to my AR15 and 12 gauge Saiga 12. then its up to them whether they want to buy their own rifle/pistol.

ive pretty much done majority of the airsoft conversions and im moving forward to doing things from scratch. now that i have a welding machine, a sheet metal brake press, angle grinder, i can design, bend, cut my own sheet metal and bed my .22's in just like what i did with my KRISS 10/22 and Scorpion EVO 3 10/22. i would definitely want to buy a good milling machine and a plasma cutter.

thanks for the tip on how to shoot my shotgun

Very neat collection

sorry guys i just cannot manufacture these .22 conversions.

my suggestion is to find a used airsoft shell/chassis on craigslist or boneyards or buy new if you'd like. take out all the internals and take it to your local gunsmith to bed the action/barrel with extended screw. if you have an idea of how to bed a rifle inside of a wooden stock, its exactly the same thing using an airsoft shell. you or the gunsmith will need to dremel out the airsoft receiver until the action just drops in. drill holes into the airsoft stock that will line up to the hole in the buffer/action and use an extended screw to prevent horizontal movement.

just PM me and i can help answer questions

ill do a take down tonight of my M14 EBR and do a video on the internals. i met a couple of vietnam veterans at the range and they were M60 gunners. so now i feel like using my Vietnam M60 stock at my next range visit. btw i paid $220 for the used M60 stock alone.

in regards to making the gun carts, im entertaining the idea of actually customizing these. i just want to make the gun cart modular and easy to do take down to make it fit in a sedan trunk.

Re: My tactical gun cart

Consider the number of people that start threads here showing off their latest and greatest, new shiny thing. How many of those people had a substantive part in the design or manufacture of their new toy? Sure, they may have checked the relevant box on the order form or even bolted some parts onto their AR, but, all said and done, they just pointed to something and it was theirs.

On the other hand, Defcon, for each of his projects, had to conceptualize, design, redesign, and actually fucking build something. Defcon has the right to be damn proud of each of his guns. Until any one of his detractors can show that they've done anything more than open their wallets, their words don't count for shit.

But a paved parking lot, really?

Re: My tactical gun cart

Did a quick video on a 10/22 M14 EBR take down requested by OldGuard. Minor cosmetic work still needs to be done to smooth out my dremeled cuts but it functions well as you can tell by the range videos.

Enjoy!

Re: My tactical gun cart

this was my first real grouping at 50 yards after zeroing the scope using the Marlin XT-22 M200 Cheytac.

i measured it to be 1 inch. im still learning what MOA is and all the other technical stuff

bone stock Marlin XT-22. no performance mods.
i was using bulk remington gold bullets.
sitting down.
3-9x50 bushnell banner scope
no rear bag.
m200 bipod

ive seen measurements on the paper target listing the the diameter of the bullet and the distance of the grouping and subtracting them. so im still trying to understand the math part and what its supposed to mean. also using different ammo grains would get tighter groupings?

currently reading up on the stickies here. fun stuff.

now im excited to work on tighter groupings and doing the 100 yard next.

Yeah, groups are measured center-to-center. Measuring edge-to-edge and then subtracting one diameter accomplishes the same thing, but is easier to do accurately because it's easier to find an edge than it is to find the exact center of a hole.

I've found good accuracy with subsonic .22 ammo, like Aguila 40gr Super Extra or Wolf 40gr Match Target, both available from Midway. If you really want to shoot the best you can, start focusing on your fundamental skills now - build your position, breath control, sight picture, trigger control, and follow-through.

i already attract plenty of people with these inexpensive conversions. i get a kick when i overhear the 5-10 year olds asking their dads if they can shoot my guns. even the serious shooters out here in california and in nevada are just dumbfounded to even see these in a .22.

not scared of recoil.

im scared of the price tag and ammo. also its illegal in California for a real .50 BMG.

4 cents a round or $4-$5 a round? ill take 4 cents around all day long at the range.

Re: My tactical gun cart

Considering some of the airsoft stocks I have seen are better than actual 22 conversion stocks I think he has a great idea. As kl3309 was saying, how many of you actually built anything you have. I see a whole lot of people with really nice rifles that they had someone else build for them or they sent it to someone else to build. What this guy is doing is actually taking some skill that, lets face it, a lot of the members couldn't come close to accomplishing. All this with no practical experience or training with firearms. Just think with some more time, experience and guidance what this guy will be able to do in the future. It wouldn't surprise me at all if one day we weren't waiting in line for him to work on our weapons. Remember where this guy is at. For one he is in an anti gun part of the country. Two where were most of us when we were just getting started? This guy is way ahead of the curve where that comes into play. I see a lot of "tricked out" ar's out there. I am a manufacturer myself. But let's face it, I don't care how nice a rifle I build, it's still a tinker toy. I call it "playing Barbie doll"... How are you going to dress this one up? This guy is doing what I wish I could do more of. Actually building and reengineering weapons.

Why a 22? As someone else stated, you can afford it. Even when I shoot my centerfires, I spend most of the day with my rimfires. Trigger time is trigger time. We all know its about sight picture and trigger control. I would rather have a guy beside me who shoots 2000 rds of 22 a month vs the guy who shoots 40 rds of centerfire a month. Depending on what it is, they spent the same amount of money, but more than likely, the 22 guy is actually a better shot.

Yeah, I also am probably going to take a lot of heat on this one, but I bet there are a few who agree with me.

I have a family. I work to barely support them. I have to rent a house at $800 a month, because the bank doesn't think I can afford a mortgage at $500 a month. I owe more than I care to admit in back taxes. I am average joe Americana... Frankly, I am jealous of a lot of the guys here on the hide. Most have optics which cost more than my car. I am a business owner, so most of my money has to go back in my business. The guys I work with want me to start competing with them. I am starting to wonder if I am out of my league. Either a lot of the guys here are doctors and lawyers (but where would they find the time for this hobby), live at home with their parents so they can afford to spend their money on "toys", or simply are single or sacrifice their family life, I don't know. Maybe I am in the wrong part of the country, but down here south of Atlanta, times are tight and for the most part always have been. That being said, I can't afford $40000 for a M60. I probably never will because of what this administration is doing. But even though it is light and only a 22, that little conversion would bring back some memories and put a smile on my face.

That being said, I will get off of my soap box. Everybody has their thing. Some people snub their nose at gas guns because their bolt "is better". Some people swear by magnums. Others laugh at the guy with his 308 because their 260 is "far supperior". Ford vs Chevy... Shooters are shooters are there are fewer and fewer of us. Encourage the sport in whatever fashion it takes.

Enzo Ferrari had to start somewhere, and it bet it wasn't with a six figure car...

Re: My tactical gun cart

Latest progress on the .22LR 1918 BAR using a Marlin 795

Finished JB welding the brass coupling. Just cured last night so its nice and tight. Just have to paint the brass piping flat black and then I'm off to the range tomorrow for test fires.

Why did I use brass piping? Because the 795 barrel was too short and I wanted to re-use the bipod so I bought brass piping with a 3/4 inner diameter that easily slips over the 795 barrel. Used a couple of couplings to mate 3 pipes together. Also found a threaded piece that can simulate a flash hider.

Awesome work. How heavy would you say the BAR conversion is?

Some conversions you use 10/22s others you use 795s. Is the width of the airsoft shell THE #1 deciding factor on which rifle to use? Or is it a combination of other things? If so please expand.

Keep it up.

a Marlin 60 or 795 will fit in all airsoft stocks except the AR15 and MP5. the Marlin receivers are only 1 inch wide

its a combination of things.

once when i get the airsoft shell, i always use a 10/22 to do a base test fit because it has the widest receiver at 1.25 inches. if the 10/22 doesnt fit, then the Marlin 60 or Marlin 795 will surely fit. i like the Marlin 60's because i dont have to deal with fabricating around the magwell like the 10/22.

i also like the Glenfield Marlin 60's because i can typically get them between $60-$100 used as opposed to the more expensive 10/22 @ $220 a piece
