Yo that shit's already here and probably ran a few courses by now. EVERYBODY seems to be coming down with some sort of respiratory stuff right now. The COVID rates are still steady, not rising or falling so that new shit is not COVID. And it's been pumping up OT hours for everybody who are well enough to keep working. I racked up a hefty 40+ hours of OT already. I also just had a weird cold a couple of weeks ago and I normally do not get colds. Regular nasal symptoms for 2 days and then afterward just getting random but not constant, light bouts of lung phlegm that just needs to be expelled with a big exhale. NO cough either. I thought it was weird AF because in the past when I did get a rare cold, it can always be expected to end with a period of coughing, but not this one. Now it seems to be fully out of my system...

ETA: The effects of this thing is going to be greatly lighter on us than in China because of air quality differences. The constant smog and all the unscrubbed exhaust blasting out of factories across most of China is already bad enough for general health, now add this and they are really going to have a bad time.

My 8 year old granddaughter spent a good part of today, Monday, in an ER getting poked, prodded, x-rayed, scanned and blood-tested before being put in an ambulance and transferred to Lutheran General Hospital outside of Chicago to be treated by some super specialist. She's on IV antibiotics and the best they know so far is it is some funky multimodal infectious bacterial pneumonia. She is one very sick young lady and my daughter is beside herself. This crap affecting kids is very real.

EDIT: My granddaughter is home from the hospital. 36 hours on IV antibiotics and some fairly intense respiratory therapy. Home with oral meds and continued respiratory therapy. Her spirits are high and she can't wait to tell here classmates of her adventures with the ambulance ride and 2 day stay in the hospital. Thanks all for your thoughts. It was appreciated.

There was a story in Florida of a young man who died in a motorcycle accident. He was beheaded. They called it a COVID death because his blood showed the antibodies that he had been exposed to COVID-19.

My boss had a sharp pain and went to the ER at a hospital near to him. He had an umbilical pre-hernia. It had not ruptured. They would not do the surgery because it was not yet ruptered an strangulating. He asked why. They had to keep the beds open for the coming tsunami of COVID patients. How many COVID patients did they have in that hospital? Zero.

My grandmother in the advanced stages of dementia stopped eating and drinking. The 96 year old women held on like that for two weeks. She had been mentally gone for almost decade and outlived what the Dr.s said to expect by 5-7 years. She died without s sniffle or cough being tested for COVID once per week at the nursing home despite the fact that she was bed ridden and dying. Two weeks after her death and one week after everyone else in the homes COVID test results had been returned. We were informed they had received a positive COVID test result for her, and they apologized that they had to list her as a COVID death. I have talked to two other families locally with the same story as mine.
