Can't decide:
Blackhawk Warrior Wear black ops 8"
or Bates GX8 or Delta 8

I need a comfortable boot for everyday knocking around, range, hunting, hiking etc... I used to own a pair of Bates tactical boots, they were comfortable, warm in the winter, wore them out after a few years, and they were inexpensive,

I am looking at new boots now, and can't decide on which way to go, I have tried on Bates GX8, Delta 8, I like both, I tried on Blackhawks, a few months ago, and now can't find them anywhere for comparison. From the reviews I read, the black hawks seem to be better but some guys have commented on breathability...?? I relly need something that won't tear up my feet being on them all day on concrete....as well as hunting, being in mud etc...

Anyone had a pair of the blackhawks that could compare them to the Bates for me?? and do the blackhawk sizes run small or ok????
any advice would be appreciated

Re: Need advice on boots: Blackhawk or Bates

On my SRT we wear either Bates Lites, Blackhawks or Oakleys and all three work really well for what we do. We are in them for about 16 hours a day. I've worn all three and am "slightly" partial to the Bates Lites but not by much. Can't really go wrong with any of them. Sizes run pretty true.

1. Find out what type of foot you have.
2. Find boot with the last to fit your foot.
3. Figure out your use.
4. Find boot from company who make a last to fit your foot for your use.

Almost all boot buyers / users have no idea what last will fit their feet and will just buy a boot. I have seen too many buy boots way too big because of their toes, forefoot, heels, arch length and achilles. I fit several men into a true lasted womens boots.

No matter what though you should use a Superfeet Orange. The stabilizer under the talus bone supports body weight through the tibia, its not an arch support...the arch cannot support body weight. The pilot of the orange Superfeet helps blood flow with tired feet for those who are on their feet all day on hard surfaces.

Good luck

Echo 45.308... lots of companies, lots of different options that will exactly fit your feet.

I won a pair of 'Original SWAT' brand boots at a school this past spring. Most comfortable out of the box boot I have ever worn. Had never even heard of them before getting a pair!

Definitely one to add to your list!

Cheers, Sirhr

Re: Need advice on boots: Blackhawk or Bates

I have the desert Blackhawks which served me well for about 15 months with a year of that being in Iraq. I pretty much lived in them so I had the "stink" foot going but understandably so after keeping my nasty feet in there for a couple of days at a time sometimes.

appreciate all of the advice, I will take a look at several of those others as well...I tried on the blackhawks yesterday, they are really comfortable

No one boot works for all conditions.

I just did an initial review on the OTB Desert Lites and Jungle Lites. These are my summer boots for now. In the winter I switch to a set of Belleville ICB's or Danner Ft. Lewis.

I will not buy 5.11 boots for awhile. I blew out the backs of two pairs and wore the soles off of a third. They are just not well made.

Remember, everyone's feet are different. Try before you buy.

side notes:
.
NOT ALL Danners are still made in USA

.
I recieved a pair of "Original Swat" boots to wear/test. THey are fairly comfortable and until recently my feet never hurt or were "tired". My biggest complaint would be the sorry ass thing they call an insole. Its very thing and gives little padding.

Only if you want ill fitting stuff, like to wait months without any replies to your order, like to rev=ceive the wrong size and get told go pound sand...shall I keep going with all the other piss poor things my firends and fellow Soldiers had to say about that company?

Danner. Right from the source.
Blackhawk, Bates? Huh???? riiiight, thought not.

+10000 on these.

i have the desert lites, and wear them every day. extremely light and comfortable for the summer. havent had a chance to use them in the snow yet though, but they really arent the boot for the job.

Re: Need advice on boots: Blackhawk or Bates

I had tan blackhawks in the Marines and not I have a pair of black, black hawks for the PD. They've been holding up for years and work great. 5.11's are issued to some guys and they fall apart...
