So a Marine buddy and I are looking to build .338ARC pistols, maybe I’ll SBR mine but we’re looking for handguards that will accommodate a silencer under them. We’re going with a 8.5” barrel and looking to use 13.5” handguards but everything I see is all oh look how slim this is! I don’t want slim! I want meaty! I want thick! And I want a large I.D.

If you know of anything like this please drop some suggestions. Dare I say it there’s to many options and not enough gun parts search engines!

EagleRun23 built a 338 ARC, his build list has this as his handguard:

Aero enhanced handguards are wide enough to swallow most suppressors.
Any truth to them going out of buisness? I thought I heard that somewhere recently?

Anyone know of any closer to a 13.5" length? I do like the AT3 style a lot though, duno how dead set he is on 13.5" length. I know he wants the silencer just barely sticking out.

Measure the diameter of your suppressor and then start looking for handguards that the can will fit under. There are many different diameters of suppressors. Keep in mind that your handguard will get hot from the suppressor, you may want to look at handguard wraps to keep from burning your hand.

I don’t have any “inside baseball” on Aero. But, their enhanced handguards are “voluptuous…”

I apologize that I haven’t built this into a rifle yet, but below is a 15” aero enhanced handguard swallowing a YHM R2. I’m pretty sure the listed diameter of the R2 is 1.5 inch.

Yeah I was already telling him this would be an issue and we might want to look at the automotive heat reflective tape, and probably using a vertical fore grip if he's okay with two stamping it and that way he can use a proper stock as well.

He doesn't know yet... I told him it looks like any full auto rated 9x19 can should work. I recommended something like maybe the YHM R9 but he may go with something else we're just starting to do the parts shopping.
The R9 is the same diameter as the R2, for reference…

I do like their enhanced gen 2 far as aesthetics. I'm a quad rail lover, my friend not so much... probably will be one of the bigger differences in our builds.

Have a Midwest Industries Suppressor Series One coming I am doing a 300 black out with that will cover the can. I’m using an older gemtech hvt direct thread.
