I am trying to decide between two pistols for a concealed carry compact 9mm. The two pistols I a deciding between are the Kimber solo and the Ruger LC9. What would you choose? reason? everyones .02 is welcome!!!!

Sir,

What you need help with is posting handgun stuff in the right dang forum, like:

Sniper's Hide Side Arms & K-bars

However since you are a fellow NC shooter I'd suggest including the Kahr CM9/PM9 in your search. Between the two you've got listed, I'd take the Kimber over the Ruger anyday (assuming $$$ isn't a factor). Reasons: Kimber is slightly smaller when all diminsions are taken into account), more respected name (although they seem to be headed in the wrong direction), and I prefer the ergonomics of the 1911-like Kimber...my .02.

What is your price range or do you have one?

I own the Kimber Solo. The chore for you right now is finding one at a decent price. The Kimber has the best trigger of any micro-compact pistol that I have shot or dry fired at the store. It is very close to the SA action of my PPK. The Solo trigger is "better" than pretty much any DA only trigger. Due to the "extra" mass of the Solo, I have no problems shooting it at the range. The LCP that I owned was not as pleasant.

I really like the thumb safety on the Solo, given the trigger. I also like the sights, you can actually use them and aim.

Most important, you need to handle them all, you may or may not like the way one or any of them feel in your hand. I did not care for the Sig 290 at all, very brick like.
Good luck.

Re: Need help 9mm compact..

I have a PF9 by keltec. I know that isn't on your list, but it is a super thin lightweight pistol that holds 7 9mm rounds. I find it to be very accurate too. Another great thing is the fact that it is so cheap. If I ever have to use it, I'm sure the police will be taking it for evidence. I'd hate to give up a pistol that is twice the price. The PF9 hasn't failed me yet. Every time I pull the trigger, it goes BANG.
