I need some help building a rifle. i have $1500 and i want to build a rifle around a Mcmillan a4 stock. i plan to be shooting out 1000 yards. originally i was going to take a remington sps tactical barrel (24" 1/10 twist) and action and put into a Mcmillan a4 stock but i dont know if there is a better option for the barrel and action. i have a mueller 4-16x50 illuminated reticle mildot scope. is there a better option for the scope?

I'm not sure what your price ceiling is for a scope and I don't have any experience with Mueller optics but from all that ive read.on the hide id say your 2most popular options are the bushnell elite 3200 10x40 mil/mil or the weaver grandslam 3x10 mil mil for a hundred more bucks. Ymmf

yeah, i have been using it for coyote hunting within 500 yards and it works pretty well. but i have never tried it out past that. the knobs seem to work fine but i dont like how it takes 10 pounds of torque to dial a new range. do you know if there is a max 20x scope under $750 that is good quality?

I would get in on the SS group buy. You can sell the other optic to make some money back if you don't keep both. Just make sure if you keep both, you have a second rifle for it to sit on or else you will neeeeed o buy another rifle for it.

If your power adjustment ring is hard to turn, call Mueller. They will fix or replace it.
They are very good budget scopes, the glass is exceptional for the price.

If you can shake loose 700 bones, the answer is the Weaver tactical 3-15 FFP mil/mil (illuminated model).

I you can't come up with that kind of scratch then look to the following:
Vortex Viper HS 5-15 (midway exclusive)
Burris Mtac, I believe it's a 4-16.
Falcon Menace

Other than that, the Mueller Tac II is an excellent scope, as is the weaver grand slam tactical 3-10 (midway exclusive) and the aforementioned bushnell

Also, SPS tactical 1-10" does not have a 24" barrel (unless they have a new model coming out)
