After some time I have decided to setup a rig for shooting at distance. My local range goes up to 500y, and another I have access to goes up to 600y but I do not go there much. I have ordered a brand new Remington 700 LTR which should be here late this week. I may also use it for some hunting and of course plinking. I was planning to put on a Sig Sauer Tango 4 in 4-16x44 with the MOA DEV-L reticle $699. From the research I have done this should fit my application but if there are issues here please let me know. Here is the manufacturers page on this scope: https://www.sigsauer.com/store/tango4-4-16x44-mm.html

I was planning to use the Nightforce XTRM Direct Mount $220 to attach this scope. From what I am reading it will work on the 8-40 screws the action is setup for. Where I am confused is which one to order. I have researched ways to determine which one to order for the above scope but I am confused to say the least. My choices are Low .885, Medium 1.0 or High 1.125. I do not anticipate needing to move this scope and it will stay with the rifle. Some assistance from you all would be greatly appreciated. https://www.nightforceoptics.com/riflescopes/accessories/mounts

I also welcome any input on my rig as well. I will probably add a muzzle brake to it for long range sessions and at some point in time I will either drop it into an MDT LSS-XL chassis or I may just buy new bottom metal for the HS Precision stock that comes with it. I'd love to put it in a Manners T2A someday so that's an option as well.

Thank you,
-Z

Will you be adding a stock pack or cheek riser, upgrading to a chassis system or installing an embedded front rail & running a clip-on NOD in the near future?

If no to all of the above, then I might suggest 1”. I ran 1” height rings on my Remington rifles like this as it placed the center of the optic’s bore in line with my eye.

Whatever you order, I’d confirm the cant built into your scope base, if any. If you will be running a zero base, order a 20 MOA mount. If a 20 or 30 MOA base, order a zero MOA mount.

The nightforce mount is 20moa and it’s a direct mount so no scope base is used at all.

ha, yea just saw that, looks like you have the cant covered. I’d still check out 1” Ring height as it should work for you unless you want the scope higher up off the bore.

I run the nightforce direct (low) on my rem700 vls 223. I have a nightforce NXS with a 56mm obj and it still clears the barrel (barely) and is nicely aligned with my eye. Idk what caliber you have but I am looking to sell mine (short action model) because I wanna run clip on nods (i’ll give ya a good deal if so)

Mine will be 308 and the scope is 44 so a low should work imo.

I have a 44 mm objective Viper mounted on a Rem 700 5R via Badger 20 MOA base using Leupold Mk 4 medium rings which are .84”.

It’s perfect. I need a high comb with any type of cheeked firearm. The higher the rings, the greater my issue w comb height.

Personally, I think as low as you can go, and still have clearance from the barrel, is better. Others may disagree.

Low it is! Appreciate it.
