So I'm putting together a parts list for a lightweight, SHTF, end of the world AR15. This will not be a sniper rifle. I'm simply looking for < 2MOA once the barrel heats up.
I'm wanting to get a melonite treated barrel. Currently I'm looking at this: VooDoo Innovations 16" Carbine Length Evo Ultra Lite Barrel BRL-16-C-L-556-M-T-L
Anyone have any experience with the Voodoo barrels?

Are there any other good lightweight, carbine gas options in the $100-300 range?

I've been looking at 16" barrels because I can't pin a flash hider on a 14.5". Does anyone sell 14.5" melonite barrels with a flash hider already pinned?

Also, are there any gas blocks for a .625 shoulder with a top rail that lines up with the receiver rail?

No idea how they shoot but ice arms barrels are around $200 and are nitrocarburized which is more or less melonite but without the trademark.

Website says the barrels are sourced from green mountain and appear to have various types in stock.

Thanks guys. Just to share info, I found that CustomAR15.com sells ARPerformance barrels.

I email CMMG to find out what is up with their barrels, I'll post the answer when I get it.

1st White oak armament. they amazing barrels for the price. IMHO best in your price range.

2nd lmt/Daniel defense

3rd. Yhm/del-ton. they are the cheapest I would get. I've used both and as far as "starter" barrels goes you can't beat em.

Brownells has 4? Gas blocks the size your looking for. I want to say they have exactly want you want.

I've read great things about Noveske barrels at AR15.com. I purchased a Noveske RECON 16.1" barrel for use on an upper build. It's a little pricey, and right now, most places are out of stock. I found mine at Tier One Arms (tieronearms.com).

Noveske barrels have yet to disappoint me. But they are out of your $100 - $300 range, new.

BCM's lightweight barrels have also done very well by me, and they're close to your price range, but to the upper end of your listed range.

*And a thought, instead of trying to get a same-plane height railed gas block - why not just do a full length rifle rail and cover the gas block? If you somehow bang a un-pinned gas block on something, there's a chance you can knock it out of alignment. Kind of hard to do if it's covered by a rail though. ;)

I bought several ARP melonited barrels several market lulls ago for like $170 per, to include a fluted MLGS lightweight fore end profile that I really like.

Also got a 16" SOCOM MLGS with 5/8x24 threads, and (2) M4/16" profiles. They run very well, and eat anything with such a hard surfaced chamber. Built a nice little carbine for my BIL, FDE cerakoted, GRSC 1-4x on top, lightweight 13" handguard. None of mine have hiccuped so far, and they run well in the cold.

The ARP folks have caught my attention lately. What kind of accuracy have y'all experienced from your ARP tubes?

I've enjoyed my woa barrels and have had good luck with a black hole weapons barrel as well. Both of those squarely fit in your price range.

I'm curious to know too. The ARP 18" tube is one of my "contenders", but I want to hear some accuracy reports first.

Last time I was out with my ARP barreled rifles my .223 Wylde chambered one shot just under .7 MOA at 100 yds with a 4x scope and some 63gr Sierra SP loads of mine.

With the 6.8 bbl I have I've consistently shot groups in the .5 and .4 MOA ranges at 100 yds.

This is a 5 shot group at 100 with 3 rounds stacked in the center.

.702 - .277 = .425"
