Need help... what is going on here ???

This is a new Daniel Defense A4 upper with a DPMS SS M4 barrel extension.

Obviously, they don't line up worth a crap - any ideas on what's going on?

looks like the alignment pin in the barrel extension is bent over or the groove in the receiver where the pin fits is off to one side.
I'll bet the bolt slams into the lugs of the extension too.

Yes? (Which I doubt) take it ti a smith and have the ranps on the barrel opened an polished. Don't do the reciever as i't anodized aluminium and it's hardness is only at the surface.

Other wise I have never seen this type of alignment be an issue

Everything is brand new and unfired.

I've never seen ramps misaligned so badly, not even on an Olympic arms upper.

I was thinking the same thing!

Take a dremel to that barrel and french the barrel to the reciever better. you just have to go slow and take your time. I have done this myself instead of buying another M4 ramped upper reciever. I just used a non-M4 ramped upper and grinded the ramps on the bbl ext on the bbl to meet flush with the Reciever ramps. Worked perfect.

Also you might have overtightened your barrel nut and broke loose the index pin on the barrel ext., thats why your ext. is cock-eyed. I have seen it happen before.

That doesn't look like m4 barrel extensions, should be notched out deeper in barrel , then it would fit receiver o.k. just looks like standard rifle extension--------if you look across end of barrel looking flat---should be 2 dipped out notches where the m4 extensions are----

The gunsmith assures me it is a DPMS M4 extension...


As far as the misalingment goes, it's either a bad upper or a bad extension - correct? or is there something else that could cause it?
