Can anybody tell me what a Wilson Combat SS 1-8twist is throated for? I called them last week for a reamer print, they told me to call Wilson Arms in Conn. I'm still waiting to hear from them. In the meantime, I'm looking to get some staring loads. I guess I'll start with 65 to 90 grain bullets?
Thanks for any help,
Jim

your twist probably won't stabilize 90's, get a hornady c.o.a.l. gauge to check your freebore if you don't hear from wilson

I don't have the gun yet, It's on the way. I was just trying to be ready to take it to the range as soon as it arrives.
Thanks, Jim

Re: need info for loading

65-90 grains is a very large difference. You cannot load 80 grain bullets in a standard AR mag, bc the oal needed is about 2.55", and a mag will only accommodate 2.26". So each round has to be loaded one at a time. I would recommend starting with 65s or 69s. I too don't think that 1 in 8 will be enough twist to stabilize 90s, and is cutting it close for 80s. Plus, don't waste your time with 80s if you aren't shooting 600 yds. You will not see any benefit at closer ranges.

Re: need info for loading

Thats the kind of info I need.
I guess what I need to know is, how heavy of bullets can I load for this - mag and single fed? I see the restriction here is 2.260 for mag. = what bullet?. What will be the throating, twist ect. restrictions for single feed? =what bullet?
I shoot 600 and 1k IBS with my custom bolt guns and I think I read IBS is going to open up to the black rifle, so here I am. I am looking to shoot this thing at 600yds.
Thanks, Jim

Oh yeah, I called Dave Kiff today at Pacific tools. They sent me a reamer print. Wilson Arms said they chambered with the 223 Wylde.
I have not had a chance to look at it yet, but I realise it won't do me much good not having any bullets to see how far down to the shoulder junc.

Re: need info for loading

You can load up to 77 gr bullets in a standard mag. I load both 69 and 77 gr SMKs. 80 and up is a whole different ballgame.
