Ok guys im wanting to do a 338 Lapua Improved and shoot the 200 grainers at high velocity. Is there anyone out there chambering for this round with the lighter bullets concerning the difference in the 300 grain to the 200 grain throate...Also i have a 1-12 twist carbon wrapped barrel for this build.

How far improved are you wanting to go? I hae a barrel in .338 Lapua Imp. with a 45 degree shoulder that I pulled after deciding to put it on a beefier reciever than it had been on. Just don't know when I'll get around to getting another reciever for it. I was planning to stay with the 250s and 300s.

I got a lawton 8500 singleshot action and a manners stock already inletted for it..Need to find someone that is chambering for it and some data for the 200 grainers. Trying to go light weight as the barrel is 26 in and carbon wrapped. So Ackley shoulder will be great

Re: Need input on a 338Lapua Improved

I live in Sweden and do only have acess to Norma and whitawuori powders.
But I don't reach the real high velocity with the .338 LM with high accuracy. I might be wrong, but for those powders it feels like the barrel is to short and probably the powder capacity all to big.
I can get very high velocity, but then the accuracy is sacrificing.

So bottom line, I doubth that there is any good with increased powder capacatiy.

I have a friend who has a WBY that was rebarrelled into like a 338 Tejas or something like that. Put regular 338 Lapua in and get the Tejas out after firing, I have never seen it but he was telling me about it. Sounded kinda neat
