I have recently purchased a M22 TCM rifle with the intent to convert it in to a 9mm rifle akin to the 9mm Novems that used to be made off the rifle.

I have been calling gunsmiths and no one seems to be willing to take on the job of fitting my barrel blank to the action threads, chambering it, and adjusting the feed block in the front for 9mm feeding. I am not sure it will need it, but some of these require a new extractor to be made in order to be of proper dimensions for reliable extraction with 9mm cases.

If anyone knows of any smith who has done or you think could take on this oddball project of the conversion, I would be in your debt. Willing to ship nationally in order to get solid work done, and I will be willing to pay more than the rifle cost me to do so.

Thanks all!

If you check gunbroker every once in a while a place out of Arizona posts completed 9mm conversions.

I have done several but I'm in north dakota and not working anymore.
I already have the M22 rifle, I just need to get the conversion done. I no longer have a lathe and need someone willing to spin up the barrel. If you know anyone in your circles that might take on the work, pointers in their direction would be appreciated. I have probably called 3 dozen gunsmiths and no one wants to take this on.

I was searching the Internet for this today! I also have a 22 TCM rifle, have GM 9mm blank in hand, just trying to find a gunsmith. I think all that needs to happen is remove barrel, thread/chamber/install, and some light mod to feed ramp. I was thinking about seeing if Modacam would be interested. I also thought a Savage barrel nut system might simplify things as well. Mattias, interested in doing two of these?

I'm not working as a gunsmith anymore.

There are a few little things with the conversions that will help alot.
-feed ramp definitely can use some recontouring
-bolt face needs some work to accept the 9mm case smoothly
-extractor may or may not need a bit more travel to hang on to the 9mm rim better.
-magazines ,especially the 15 round mags need some work to loosen up the lips for smoother feeding.

As far as conversions go it's not too bad but the devil is in the details. Also accuracy expectations need to be managed. 2 moa is common with ammunition that the rifles like.

My current rifle has a shilen ratchet twist 9mm barrel and it shoots about 1.5moa at 100yds. Faster the bullet the more it seems to like it.

Pictures are not the best. Feed ramp opened up, magazine lips smoothed out, the bolt has been opened up just a bit all around and you can see two little angles at the bottom opening for easier feeding, also extractor was refit slightly for better brass control on extraction to ejection.

"Pictures are not the best."

Proceeds to post pictures of coolest gun on the Internet. It is so weird to me that RIA never released this in 9mm. I think they would have popularized a whole new category of rifle.
