Two actually. Both are precharged pneumatics, regulated, lothar walther barrels etc. I will need reticles that will allow both mil range estimation (targets range in size from .75" to 4") and distances from 8 yards to 100 yards and hold over for elevation and wind.

One rifle is .177 (@ 12 FPE) and the game I'll be playing is from 8-45 yards. The other is .25 caliber (50 FPE) from 40-100 yards.

The scopes I've been looking at are the Primary Arms with the R Grid reticle (used as they are discontinued) and the Super Sniper with the Mil Quad reticle but I'm open to suggestions.

In the longer range game I can use a standard 50 yard adjustable or 100 yard fixed parallax. I have an IOR 10x42 MP-8 that I could use.

My budget is $300 or so. If you chime in, give your reasons why.

Thanks,

Paul

Take a look at "Hawke" scopes.
Some models you can adjust Parallax from almost to the end of the barrel to infinity. The glass is very clear and they have many different choices of ret's to choose from.

Edit to add, I have 4 (all the same) of them 3 on 22lr's an one on a .223 bolt all with mil ret's. these are the first scopes I've ever owned that are cheap, clear, lite, take a beating w/o breaking the bank. Warranty is life time of the original owner, I've never need it to-date 5 years later. All mine were under $150.00 TMD

You'll find the inexpensive Athlon Argos and Talos BTR's perfect for your application. They focus to 10Y, FFP, good glass, fantastic reticles - especially for holdover/holdoff and they track well.

2 months ago I shot my first perfect score 48/48 in Field Target with a Argos BTR 6-24x50 mounted to a Mac1 USFT, that's after trying for 23 years using much more expensive scopes including S&B. I have the Argos scope on my 12ftlb FWB as well. Then have the Talos BTR 4-14x44 on my FX Impact and Steyr LGB1. I also have a couple on 22's and centerfires.

I have a bunch of friends that use them too. One of them won Freestyle division last month, I could go on and on but you get the point.

None have had to go back for repair or replacement. For the money they can't be beat.

Bingo!! That's exactly what I'm looking for. The BTR 4-14 is exactly what I need.

Where re are you located Steve? I'm the MD down here at the Mt. Cheaha Club in Alabama.

On my airguns I tend to use 10x42 and 3-15x42 SWFA SS scopes q fair bit. They focus close and the turrets are dead on reliable.

For more of an "unconventional" airgun scope, I have a MTC Viper Connect 3-12x24. It is an odd scope with a very short eyerelief, but for situations where I do not need ot estiamte range using side focus, it has easily become my favourite. The reticle are intelligently done and that short eye relief results in an extremely wide and relaxing field of view.

I tried a Connect and liked it a lot (for the reasons you stated) but had a buddy that liked it better lol.

My IOR has spoiled me. The image is so nice, it's just not optimum for the close in stuff.

I've heard lots of good things about the SS scopes too. Thanks for the input.

I'm a MD too, I set up the courses for Airgunners of Arizona just outside Flagstaff AZ.

Outstanding!! Flagstaff is beautiful country. I went up there once when I was stationed at Yuma.

The Nationals are in AZ this year right? We had them at my club in 2014. It's a lot of work.

We've started hosting matches in the UKAHFT format as well. That's what I'm scoping this rifle for.

Yep the Nationals will be down at the Rio Salado range near Mesa.

I saw a video on last years UK nationals I think or some big FT shoot over there and read the rules a few times. I shot 12ftlbs last month in Freestyle, it's twice as hard or at least it is for me.

It's good to talk to another FT shooter here on the Hide!
