What are your thoughts on Nesika actions?
    Nesika
I was thinking about barreling a Nesika action and fitting it into my McRees stock for an upgrade on my .300WM.
I did some searching and saw that there was some question of Nesika having a direct drop in replacement for a Remington 700 LA? I'm not sure if there is an issue or not?

Dont know about the "new" ones but the older ones are just badass. I have two I use for prone/palma rifles. Even got some Anschutz triggers hanging off the bottoms.

    Re: Nesika actions

Nesika is owned by Dakota Firearms in Sturgis, Contact Richard Spurrill if your still interested. He (they) built a very nice Dakota Predator for me, 6.5 Grendel, on the Nesika J action. Very accurate. This is a hunting rifle, not dragging it around in the dirt and dust, so not sure how it would do in a 3 day tactical match, much less, where you were.

Thanks for your service by the way. You're the reason I can sit back and enjoy this crazy hobby...obsession!!

With the Templar you have to buy a barreled action. Call GAP, they will help you out.

You might also get with Chad Dixon (C. Dixon) here on the hide if you want some more info on them as he used to work for Nesika/Dakota Arms for a few years. He could probably tell you everything you would want to know about one.

    It works just fine now

    Re: Nesika actions

Had GAP build me a tactical rig in 2006 on a Nesika K repeater action with an Obermeyer barrel on an A5. I use it in tactical matches a couple times a year and it works great - shoots like a laser and have had no reliability issues. Be aware however that these actions are "tight" and the bolt starts to get sluggish when it begins to get dirty. Keep her relatively clean by cleaning out the raceways and chamber at the end of the shooting day and she will run great.......

    Re: Nesika actions

I have had three Nesika actions.
The rifles built on them were about the most accurate I have ever seen.
    I had the following problems.
You could only use one type mag,HS precision, and it was hard to find at the time, and not so good IMO.
Actions were too tight and not for even light field use. More of a benchrest or F class type action. Anything would stop it up.
NOT FOR TACTICAL USE! Or even hunting.
Jim Borden designed it and now makes one about like it. Nice to deal with. I have a 20 TAC on a Borden. It is about as tight as a Nesika, may be just a tight, but I use it as a varmint rifle with no problems so far. It is also stunningly accurate, but no way would it make it through even a slight amount of field use without binding up.

    Re: Nesika actions

Ran my 6br today at the local Varmint Silhouette shoot and in the 20mph KS wind it started to lock up on me. I let it go to see how it would operate.

Ran approx 20 rounds at each range, had to leave the bolt out on every other relay as there were too many shooters to shoot through.

Bolt was cleaned and a light coat of Mobile 1 added prior to the match.
    1st relay, no issues
    2nd relay, a touch drag
    3rd relay, hanging up
    4th relay, was a drag

Love the gun, but will have to wipe the bolt after each relay and store the rifle in the case between runs. May even have to lightly lube and wipe out action on longer shoots.
May try and lube with HBN to keep the bolt from attracting the air born dust.

BTW, I managed 1st out of the group in the wind this am. One of the worst conditions we have ever shot in at this range.
