DEBUT FROM SHOT SHOW – SWR’S NEW SPECWAR 5.56 QD!
This is the first new 5.56 can from SWR in years! It’s a QD suppressor and uses SWR’s brand new (patent pending) ASR (Active Spring Retention) mount.
5.56 QD cans tend to fall into two categories.
Category 1: MSRP over $1000. Cans in this category have all Inconel baffle stacks and are designed/built for heavy use in combat (examples would be the AAC M4-2000, KAC NT4 and all of Surefire’s 5.56 cans).
Category 2: MSRP under $1000. Cans in this category typically have an Inconel blast baffle and the remainder of the baffle stack is SS. These cans are VERY durable, but offer more reasonable pricing than Cat 1 (examples would be the AAC M4-1000, YHM Phantom SS/QD, etc.).
The SPECWAR is a Category 2 can. MSRP is $695 (QD mount included). The blast baffle is Inconel and the rest of the stack is SS.
One problem that many “Category 2” cans suffer from is their mount design. Some cans walk off of their mounts, while others have occasionally gotten STUCK on their mounts and WON’T come off!!
This is where the SPECWAR shines – the new mount is a great design!
The can “threads” on the acme threads of the flash hider (muzzle brake also available) mount (just a couple of wrist rotations - until it “stops” at the base of the mount) first and then you rotate the collar 1/6th of a turn to engage the two pawls which lock down on the gnurled ring at the base of the mount. It’s a very effective design the securely holds the can in place until you want to take it off!
Another SPECWAR advantage is it’s sound reduction! In testing at SWR, the SPECWAR is around 133db on a 14.5” AR – that’s M4-2000 territory gentlemen!! Once we get productions cans in stock, I’ll verify the numbers with some independent testing, but SWR has a very good track record of putting out accurate db reduction stats.
So, here are the bottom line “high points” for the SPECWAR:
-Priced below the AAC M4-1000 and Gemtech G5 at $695 (QD mount included)
-SWR’s brand new, proprietary QD mount that addresses many of the shortcomings in many other QD mounts
-Sound reduction right up there with the class leading 5.56 cans (as per SWR’s #’s)
WE'VE GOT THE FIRST 50 OFF THE PRODUCTION LINE (the entire first batch) COMING TO US!!
