Sidearms & Scatterguns new 9 mm ammo

Been on the market for the better half of a year or so now. Just a gimmink ammo as far as i'm concerned. I'd never carry it, use it, or waste my money on it, let alone have to explain to the judge why I chose that of all ammo options to use in my gun for self defense.

How does showing guys shooting fully automatic pistols prove about the new hallow point round? That whole sequence didn't make sense. Wow it popped a balloon! Can't believe ammo could do that.

Who is John Galt?

I think the full auto is to show how reliably it feeds, because let's face it, with all those jagged edges, it's bound to feed unreliably at first glance. Who knows. I'll never buy it.

If you compare the specs for this to Guard Dog you get more force and less out of pocket with Guard Dog. I admit the video was cool watching it shred the ballistic gel.

With all hoopla aside this looks like an undated version of Jim Cirillo's old Pin Grabber design hollow point. While there is some dated material in the book. It is a very good read " Guns, Bullets and Gun Fights" ISBN 0-87364-877-3

Jim Designed his bullet so that it would bite into hard surfaces after seeing multiple examples of bullets bounced off peoples heads. And if you dont know who Jim Cirillo was ...you are probably under 30 and need some late night reading material.

I have always been leery of a bullet that needs to do a trick in order to be effective. Most people are familiar with Murphy's law, and knowing self defense, if something can go wrong, there is a high likelihood that it will. My personal preference is for a bullet that will be effective even if the trick that bullet is supposed to do fails to materialize.

Ammunition that has been proven effective in both testing in a lab, and in actual use on the street gives me the most confidence in it's ability to be helpful when it is needed. Hence, I review manufacturer's testing, FBI testing results, any one shot stop results, and any other data on ammo I can find.

So far, my "go to" ammo for 9mm is 124 grain +P+ hydra shock, and Federal's 230 grain hydra shock for 45 acp.

Both types of ammo are used by many LE agencies, and neither one is so unusual as to cause excessive problems in court if they were ever used.

It's just a new fad of bullets. I think people get wrapped around "stopping power" too much..

There's no one on this planet that's going to take a bullet , be it a .22 or a 45 and just shrug it off. And who stops shooting after 1 bullet? You stop when the threat is neutralized (whatever that means to ya'll).

Lol Corey... I was bullshitting peeps. Basically the ammo isn't as good as current hollow points but it still works... Your just dividing the spread of energy into little jackets so there's less of a blunt strike of a full up hollow point.
