Rifle Scopes New Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44

Ive just seen this announced by Delta NZ on Facebook.
Hopefully it's not just another version of the Bushy DMR scopes (due to stupid tunneling). If it doesn't weigh a tonne it could be a nice crossover scope, the LRD-1T reticle is quite nicely visible on 4.5x in the Stryker 4.5-30 so I think it'll work well on 3.5x.

So a lot lighter than DMR and a touch shorter. Wonder if it'll have illumination.

If they made it 56mm the scope would end up longer and heavier and people would bitch about it not being compact enough for NV use and too heavy.

Apparently it will have a brand new reticle, if it turns out to actually be usable at 3.5x then this may well be a stand out option in the crossover scope category.

I’d have preferred this as well, but then again I’d just get a Bushy DMR2/3. This is likely targeted at people specifically trying to save weight and for whom 21x will only be a “nice to have” top end where they’ll spend more time at the 8-15x range and have a still useable 3mm exit pupil.

But yeah, if I’m not counting ounces I’d just grab a DMR2/3.

I don’t disagree but does it really make that much difference?

50/21 gives a 2.381mm exit pupil.
To get the same from a 44mm Objective you need to turn the magnification down to 18.5x.

There are already a lot of 3-20ish x50mm scopes on the market, I think this one will find a niche, especially if they don’t screw up the reticle.

The existing models are, so chances are this one will be too.
The only other 3.5-21 scope on the market is the Bushnell DMR (which is a LOW scope), if it is built off the same base model hopefully it doesn't tunnel like the DMR does.

The one reticle choice is the only thing that puts me off so far. The 4.5-30 had a decent selection that didn’t look like a fully lit Christmmas tree. Has anyone seen the missing data points on transmission or eye relief published yet?

I just received the specs from a local dealer in Germany. 50 Mils of adjustment, that is huge! Unfortunately it is not as light as I hoped.

I wonder if the weight is a mis print as it was originally stated it was going to be 790g. 890g is about 32oz which is getting a but too chunky IMO.

The reticle looks different in your picture but the pic quality isn't good enough to make out the reticle subtensions.

Thank you for the information. The reticle looks identical to the one published before and it is far too cluttered with all the dots above the center i.m.o.. I like the decent eye relief and huge elevation. 890g would be too heavy for my taste too. Did the dealer give you a launching date?

Ok I got good news. I've talked to Delta and the scope does indeed weigh 790g. The 890g in the brochure is a mistake. So it actually IS pretty lightweight.

Overall optical performance, personally thought the mk5 was was a joke optically for its price. It’s light and compact yes. But for 2 grand it’s pretty bad. Really small image overall for a 35 mm tube. Tight eye box. Lots of ca. my sample had reticle shift with parallax. Lots of distortion if your head wasn’t exactly centered. They just gave way too much in the design for the size form factor for me to be happy with it for $2,000 dollars. Just felt like I was looking 1 inch tube scope almost for me. Didn’t care for it at all. Don’t see what the hype was about. Makes sense why I see them come up for sale on px every other day it seems.

Yeah I know some people have liked them. I have seen 2 samples and saw the same thing on both. Hopefully the delta will show up in the wild soon. It will have to perform pretty well depending on what they charge for it.

I think this will be a nice option but don't see it displacing the Mark5.

The Mark5 is still lighter weight, has lower profile turrets and a arguably better reticle (TMR is relatively thick).
There is plenty wrong with the Mark5 but I think it'll remain popular.

What's the actual warranty on Delta Optical scopes is it like Athlon or Vortex or Burris no questions asked lifetime no receipt needed and transferrable after you sell it to someone else (regarding resale value as well) and do they have a warranty center based in the USA or do you have to mail the scopes that need warranty repair overseas internationally and what's the realistic wait time?

The reason I ask is I was going to buy a Delta Optical scope and was told to buy the Athlon Ares ETR version instead due to the much better hassle free warranty. Other Delta Optical twins I wanted to buy were the Trijicon Tenmile 5-50x and 4.5-30x but their warranty were only 5 years from date of manufacture not date of actual sale for their illuminated reticles so I bought an Athlon Cronus BTR instead just because of the hassle free no questions asked lifetime warranty including the electronics for it's illuminated reticle. Very few people actually know about the limited short term warranty on their electronics and think they have a real lifetime warranty and. SIG Sauer is another brand with the same limited 5 year warranty on everything relating to their electronics from date of manufacture and NOT date of purchase illuminated reticle in their scopes, ballistics apps, reticle leveler and pairing to your phone rangefinder binoculars and so on and not lifetime warranty. Bushnells only have a one year warranty on electronics such as illuminated reticles in their scopes and everything electronics related that they sell and warranty only with original dated proof of purchase receipt or theres no warranty. Such shady practices gave then an F rating according to the BBB.

The Delta Riflescopes have an all inclusive 10 year warranty, so better than some I guess.
That said - I do like the Athlon Cronus BTR Gen.2. I like that the Illumination is bright enough in the daytime to help out with a snap shot @ 4.5X.
Illuminating the entire ranging portion of the ret. helps at low power too.
As for the Javelin vs Ares ETR, better warranty for the ETR, but the Javelin costs about 100.00 less and has locking turrets, sunshade and aluminum lens caps.

Yeah…not great. All those little crosses make my eyes vibrate, a bit like that Leupy CCH reticle I had a few years back. And I’m not a fan of dots above the main stadia.

Maybe it’ll look better through the scope…sometimes that happens.

I do like the starting 2 mil wind holds! That’s handy for the varmints I shoot with small calibers at very windy places. Currently use Vortex EBR-2c/d and NF Mil-xt rets.

Delta’s existing LRD-1T reticle seems better. They use it in their 4.5-30 Stryker (which appears to have had a couple stealth updates since it was introduced…now with wider-spaced parallax distances as per an Optics-Trade video).

I wonder why they didn’t use that reticle?

Edit: the spacing right around the crosshairs has me confused…just comparing the .2mil dots on the wind holds. Wtf? Maybe it’s just me.

This is correct.

I have pretty extensive experience with the LRD-1T reticle, for the most part it’s a nice reticle other than the first 1mil in the reticle (the part you use the most).

The whole cross thing makes sense on paper but practically it’s just dumb, normal .2mil hashes like the rest of the reticle are far better. Use the full hash for a .2 hold and then bracket the target for the in between.
Holding in the middle of a line or the tip of a cross just doesn’t seem to work as well, and isn’t as intuitive to work out where to hold under time pressure.
