I won't lie, I'm surprised Leupold hasn't made a grab at the Vortex PST II market yet. There's a demonstrable market there, and the old school Leuold fan bois would certainly hype the heck out of it. 30mm 5-25x50 with low enough parallax to stomp NRL22 with okay-tier glass ought to be a no brainer.

They have the mark 3hd, they're not bad except a little overpriced for what they are imho.
Holy 3x erector... I've never heard of these, and looking at reticles and mag ranges, I understand why.
EDIT: What's more is that they're SFP. Not really a competition for even a Diamondback Tactical.
I feel like in the 3-9x the sfp wouldnt be sooo bad because by the time somethin was far enough away to really need my holdovers I'd probly be on 9x anyway. What upsets me is the uncapped elevation, and I can't really see where there's a zero-stop feature. Am I missing it? In any case you're right the TMR leaves a lot to be desired.
I'd buy one if it was 200-300 bucks.

I really liked the old NF 2-10 back into the day but went to FFP, if this follows the same form factor in FFP I think it could be a winner.
Haven't found any LPVO's that could fill that role.
I plan on throwing one with offset rmr on my SR25. The VIP pricing on them is pretty nice if anybody hasn't checked yet.
We should have our sample soon as well...

I tried to get them to make this scope lighter weight but with the extra features and whatever else they ran into it didn't pan out.
Somewhat more than of a year ago I traded into a March 1-10 DFP compact. It's a great scope, and better made than this Athlon is but honestly I haven't found the extra worth for what I do with this AR most of the time which is using it out to 812Y on steel.
Although I'm sure I'd really appreciate 1x on the March if I ever get into a CQC scenario, so this AR is near me most of the day.
I use the Athlon 2-12 on a 6mmFatRat AR upper and in spite of the thicker reticle I don't have problems hitting stuff out to 1122Y. The .3 mil center dot is pretty much how precise the gun is anyway so I know if I got the wind right the bullet will hit inside that dot. That's PBR or when dialing for wind and elevation.
I often find for normal winds when I've dialed elevation I end up using the edge of the dot or a hair out of it to 400Y for holdoff with this cartridge.
For holdovers the dot is out of the way past 300Y anyway but the line thickness of the reticle is large enough to see down to 3x or so if I wanted to.
It might just be me but I sure like 12x more than 10x!
Being into airguns I have another 2-12 on a Steyr ProX pcp semi auto. The scope focuses down to 10Y and sometimes I shoot at 22rf brass and also flies this close when we have our fly hatch in the spring.

Honestly it reminds me of a cheaper, lighter, less refined Revic. Definitely neat to see a second company making a similar design even though I prefer the Revic.
Is there a problem that they are hiding from that I haven't heard about? Some major players have dropped out do to the massive expense, and trade shows not giving the ROI they once did.

I love all the mind-reading going on here. However, let me just say that their reason for not being at SHOT 2023 is exactly what they stated and it's due to Covid. They are a small Japanese company, and they did not want to take any risks that could jeopardize the well-being of the employees. I know what you are thinking but I remind you that in certain things, you can't apply the same standards and I will never fault a company for looking out for their employees, even if some think this was being too cautious.
They definitely wanted to come to SHOT because they like the show and love meeting their customers and resellers, and also, they have some neat new products to showcase. The March-X 8-80X56 Majesta is a phenomenal riflescope and quite the accomplishment given the fact the winner of the 2022 F-Class Nationals Long Range championship was using a prototype of this riflescope. The new March-FX 1.5-15X42, the new shuriken locking knobs, and the March-FX 1-10X24 FFP/DR, those are all exciting new products or updates that would have been shown at SHOT 2023.
They do plan to be at SHOT 2024.
Wow... "holy grail of SPR scopes", ummm, his definition of holy grail must be very different from mine. I suppose if you want to pay $2499 (even at street price it's still too much IMO) for an illuminated 2-10x30 with a 35mm tube that 98% of the scopes and mounts already in use today don't use and get a reticle that's not very usable for SPR type work, get a lot of elevation travel that you don't need, have to buy a specialized mount to use with that 35mm tube and have a small objective scope that still weighs 24 ounces, then yes, I guess this would be the holy grail of SPR scopes. But I have a very different idea about what an MPVO style scope ought to be and for the above reasons, this scope just doesn't cut it, the only things in its favor is a shortish body and a nice locking turret. By the time Leupold comes out with a compelling reticle prices should have come down some on the scopes maybe making it more appealing, but I envision in a couple years we'll be seeing some crazy sales on these 2-10's like we did with the 3.6-18's from Cabela's a few years back when they sold for under $1k (I can only assume to blow out remaining stock on scopes that were just sitting because nobody really wanted a non-illuminated TMR reticle).
The good news is that a lot of companies see what Leupold puts out and then come up with their own "improved" versions, so for that matter I am glad Leupold released this scope and March released their FFP 1.5-15x42, this hopefully opens the door for other companies to follow suit and finally bring some compelling FFP MPVO designs to market. Maybe by SHOT 2024 we'll see NF and Vortex jump into this game.
Vortex, if you're listening: A Razor LHT FFP 2-10x42 with a reticle usable at 2x and EBR-7D like tree at 10x with a 30mm tube and under 20 ounces.

That's a sacrifice I'd be willing to take though. The Eotech LE5 is perfect, but that obviously would never happen in a Vortex.
After owning a few MK5's and a few USO's, I wouldn't trade a MK5 for 10 USO's. Those things have been garbage for years. The MK5's are great optics, Leupold just fucked this one up because it's what they do.
I saw the new Revic, it's very nice, a bunch lighter, they moved the controls a bit

Wait? There was a new Revic at SHOT (they have nothing on their website)? Wow, that is the first I've heard. Do you have any more info? If the "new" scope is much lighter are we to assume it is a new design (and hopefully the optics are a bit better than ver 1.0).

It's almost 2oz lighter than the Helos G2, has 10Y min parallax side focus, a .2 mil reticle in the SFP, locking windage, and has the magnification indicator marked in red on 12x where mil values are correct.
Price is $200 cheaper than the Helos G2 2-12.
I look at it like as if compared to when we old guys used the 2-7's with duplex reticle to hunt with back then but normally didn't shoot farther 300Y, and now this is kinda the modern version for modern medium range hunting rifles with more versatility for using it for long range with the ability for dialing or holding.

I've won plenty of matches with their scopes in rimfire and in FT air rifle including state championships. One can't do that with junk, the scope has to be reliable and perform or its not gonna happen. Even Athlon's lowest line are decent and I've had one $160 Talos on a varmint rifle for 5 years now which has done its job flawlessly.
Personally owned many scopes of other brands from - what I consider are actually junk bought at Walmart, etc(broken immediately), Edit - and scopes ranging in price all the way up to my March Genesis 4-40x52 which is a such a fantastic scope.
A S&B went back for repair twice.
A USO.
Two Jap Bushnell's went back for repair.
An IOR was replaced.
I sent back an Athlon 1-10 that didn't work for my eyes but otherwise the scope functioned fine as well as the 20 something other Athlon scopes I've had.
And have had many scopes from other brands including various $1500 + scopes that were disappointing for various reasons as well as some of them flat out not worth the money spent, like Leupold, Bushnell, Burris, NF, others. A fair amount of this stuff most of us have seen in this Optics forum.
That being said one can't expect a less expensive scope that isn't meant to compete with a scope costing many times more to be what it can't be. Athlon makes good moderately inexpensive scopes that perform well but, perfect, no.
I tested that little Heras 2-12 and found it a neat option that had surprisingly good IQ and feature set.
It has a simple .2 mil reticle with .07 mil center dot in the SFP and mils are correct at 12x.
12x on the mag ring is labeled in red.
SFP so the reticle is full sized.
Focuses close for airguns and rimfires.
Windage knob locks.
Zero stop.
Not heavy or long.

Im all for bashing Leupold but really need some perspective here.
The tunneling on that thing makes it effectively a 3-10 scope. It's also over an 1" longer than the MK5 and almost 2oz heavier.
It also looks like shit and the 11mil turrets are almost as dumb as Leupolds 10.5mil turrets.
Man I wish they still came to the Great American Outdoors show here in PA, they were here around the 2018/2019 time frame but haven’t been back since. Probably not enough ROI due to the smaller market share of long range hunting here but I would love to get a chance to see it in person.
I love the PMR I have (thank you for the SH group buy a few years back) but it’s just too much weight and magnification with the type of hunting I do here so it stays on the target rifles.

Was that the Revic RS25 Werkman 5-25x56 rifle scope? Quite a few of us are waiting on the new V2 of the PMR 428 ever since they hinted a new model was being designed.
Sorry for the delay, just now seeing this. I don’t have mine yet. I really just like it for a mid-range gas gun build. 6.5 grendel or 6ARC. The fact that it has adjustable parallax is a big selling point for me. I already trust the Mark 5’s so the quality shouldn’t be an issue. I’m kinda waiting for the rest of the reticle options to be available before I commit.
