New Kahles K328i

I got one the other week, DLR version.

Wow, what can I say? You're really "drawn" into the optic and the FOV is better than any of the other scopes I have (slightly better than the S&B 3-27x).

I think this will be a good fit for my LWRCI REPR Mk II Elite 6.5 Creedmoor, as soon as Spuhr can deliver a mount. (in a week or so)

I think they are different Beasts. 3-28x vs 6-36x, of course with some overlapping.

I will use my LWRCI mainly for hunting, so 328 is better than 526 or 636. If the rifle was for PRS I'd probably go 636, if you see where I'm going?

Makes sense. I’d be throwing this on a NRL Hunter rifle to replace a ZCO 4-20 so I’m leaning more towards the Kahles. Do you notice a difference in glass quality between the S&B and the Kahles?

It looks like the K328i at 28x has the same FOV as S&B 6-36 at 25x, both are about 9mil from left or right to center.

So, take that how you will.

Area 419 just posted a new video where they corrected themselves. Apparently they had a prototype that had a flaw, not a rare thing with prototypes.

I didn't really understand area 419's previous statements as they didn't line up with my impressions, but they've got it right on the new video.

Mounted today, and will zero next week.

I tried to compare it with the k624i on my vast property.

you get the idea of the bigger fov on 20x based on the mil scale.

The parallax of the k328i starts at only 20meters, which is nice since i can get a clear picture at the far end of my garden to mount it properly.

I like the azimuth turret on the left side, but the patended twist guard feels akward with the free rotation of the disc.

I had to check the manual to understand its on purpose.

this is great to hear. A meeting in Atlanta 5 -6 years ago is mentioned......is Kahles the only manufacture doing this? Or were there others in the meeting with forthcoming similar products?

My thoughts on the 328i is that this could allow me to run a magnification closer to 20x and have the FOV of what I would normally have at say 15x on my Theos.

I'm not able to take any pictures right now since it's night here, but i did check for you anyways, hope this helps.

15x = 32-33 mils, just over 16 on each side.
20x = 23-24 mils, just over 12 on each side.

Kahles has always been an excellent scope. If you dislike chromatic aberration, stay away from Kahles. Other than that, they’re great.

The same was said by the fanboys, sponsored shooters, and salesman about the K525 but once several were out there it was pretty apparent it was no different than the K624. Hopefully what you're saying holds true once more people have them in hand.

I have both the 525 and 328, both DLRs. It is a night and day difference between the 2 when compared side by side

Thanks. I guess to be fair, it is a difficult metric to measure, and comparison to another scope is probably a good way to do it.

Hopefully someone with hands on experience with a razor gen 3 or the like, might be able to compare this aspect at sub 100 yard distances.

I'm sure it will hold true, it's a big and obvious difference from most scopes i have tested. I would love to see some comprehensive tests and comparisons done by independent reviewers aswell.

Could this be related to mounts? I have been reading about this scope on every different channel i can get my eyes on and this is the first time i am hearing losing zero.

How is the DOF, eyebox and parallax? I have ran ZCO, TT and Gen 3 razors the last couple years. If its comparable, then I am seriously going to consider one.

DOF is excellent. Parallax and eye box are also very forgiving. A few times on the first stage of the day I’ve ran the scope on 28 power after sight in and been completely fine. I prefer 20 power with this scope. I’ll be getting a second scope in the near future to put on my practice rifle.

Right now @HawkinsPrecision 2 Piece Heavy Tactical Rings on my 328. I like hooking my thumb on the bubble level if I’m on top of the scope to stabilize the rifle and I’m also loyal them for scope rings. I’ll use that until they come out with their own cantilever mount for it

I’ve been a long time Kahles glass hater cause let’s be honest, it never met its price point. With that said, they’ve made huge strides with this one. I’ve been running tangent for the last 1.5yrs or so (razor g3 prior and everything under the sun including zco before that) and this thing is really good. I need to get it out side by side with the TT more but initial impression is it’s darn close.

FOV is very good, of course. I don’t think the eye box is bad but it’s not as easy to slide behind as some others; especially over 20x. DOF is fantastic and the glass seems very good. The elevation turret feels great but oddly enough the windage is a little mushy. The physical design seems wonky AF but maybe they had to do it to get the performance. Who knows, but regardless the performance is very good. Right now it’s on my nrl hunter rig but I’ll definitely run it in a prs match soon.

I got a PM II 6-36 with the new tree reticle a short while back (haven’t exactly been wowed unfortunately) and immediately found the glass in the 328 to pop more and feels brighter. That new schmidt reticle is damn nice though!
