Well my American Bulldog Winny had 9 puppies last night. The sire is my male American Bulldog Lapua. He is 125 lbs and she is about 75 lbs. They are already some good looking pups. Will only get better with age. Here are some pics for your perusal. There are only 7 pics of the individual pups....Momma was kind of freaking out so we lost track of them...but we will get more pics later.

Re: New litter of pups....

Very cool. Not only will you have regular 'sentry' overwatch, but soon you'll be able to have them pups on "outpost" duty as well.

I know my F-I-L would want ALL of them pups. Big time.

Panty 6 said no extra mouth's to feed here until I graduate and get a real job paying taxes, but man those are some killer looking little bully dogs!

Re: New litter of pups....

From my experience (which isnt much) with this breed is that they are wonderful dogs. Very well behaved, smart, loyal, protective of there teritory but very gentel with chikdren .
Our neighbor has one that found his way into my choclate labs pin and now we have a "bullador".(part American bull dog part lab)

. However this has been the best dog I have ever had.
I would love to have one of these pups but I know there is no way BB could handle having to share us ;~}. Good looking litter!!!

Have you ever seen a puppy that wasnt adoreable? Seems to come with the territory.

Pardon my ignorance but is the American bulldog the same as the Pit bulldog. they look similar, but the momma in the photo seems to gave more snout than pits.

Cute little mutts, regardless.

As a AB owner I will try and answer the question. The "pit"bulldog (read pitbull) was NOT derived from the American Buldog in any way. The American Bulldog has several breed lines in them but the two most common is the Johnson and the Scott. Most confusion comes from the Scott bloodline as they have the small pitty looking head and thus most people can"t tell the difference from an American Bulldog "Scott" bloodline and a pitbull. So they believe that they are one in the same. A pitbull is a APBT American Pit Bull Terrier. These are two totally different breeds. It would be like saying a Yellow Labrador and a Rodesian Ridgeback was the same or a Rotweiler and a Doberman were the same breed because of their coloring. The American Bulldog was derived from a couple different breeds, catahoula, mastiff and others I cant think of right now but the Pitbull was not in the bloodline. They were made from these different breeds by farmers and cattle owners to be catch dogs(hogs and cattle) but to also be a family safe animal. I will try and remember the breeds that were used to create the American Bulldog and post it later. Also the Pitbull was not created using the American Bulldog in ther lines. Now there are breeders out there that do cross them in to each other to create a larger Pit but it is not recognized as a pure breed. Also the American Bulldog is (or was) not recognized by AKC because they are(to them) not a "pure breed" as they were derived from several breeds . Sorry for the ramblings about the difference but to sum it up....two totally different breeds. Hope this clarifies the situation a bit for you and others that may associate the two as the same.

Re: New litter of pups....

762 beautiful pups and momma by the way. Put up a pic of the daddy if you will. I would love to have one of your pups but I think my wife would flip out. You think I might be able to convince her that I "found" the puppy as a stray....? ; Anyway, beautiful pups and they will make awesome pets and protectors for their new owners. Tommy

AB 411:
http://www.americanbulldog411.com/history.html

The AB comes from the Mastiff line, nothing terrier about them. They were popular in the 1800's in the southern states as a "catch" dog and are still used for hog baiting today. They were working dogs on farms and plantations and would go after wayward property (hogs, cattle, slaves, etc.) and pin them down until the owners arrived. Despite this history, they are a very loyal family dog and great with kids.

Re: New litter of pups....

Healthy looking parents!

In his last pick he looks to be thinking " DOH! What have I done"

Ive asked around. A couple of my buddies might be interested in the puppies. I wish I could get one but my pitbull would not be having that. And two large breed dogs in the house with 2 kids just aint gonna happen for me.

Thank you. He is my man. On a side note, I just picked the puppies up from the VET. They had their dewclaws removed. Everyone is doing A-Ok.

We have an AB that we rescued. He uses his dewclaws (thumbs) to his utmost advantage.

They only get in the way on working dogs.

Tails stay long...Dewclaws however are gone...

Re: New litter of pups....

Lapua is a good lookin guy. He looks like he loves the water as do my muttly crew. As for the dew claws, I believe that all dogs need them removed because every one we ever had ended up tearing one or both inside their kennels. Cost alot when you go to the vet to fix and its painful, when all you have to do is remove them in the first place.. Just my way of thinkin anyway.

Re: New litter of pups....

Great lookin pooches, love that pic of my sayin "WTF are ya lookin at my babies for"
.
LAP is a beast I like'm!
.
An agreed on the dewclaws...my current pooch is only one I've ever had that retained'm. Ever now an then he gets me with his "blade". Next one will have it removed prior to pick up.
