I will now do Seekins Precision a great disservice by posting some "groups".
But first, my long list of excuses!
I haven't fired a rifle in 5 months.
I haven't fired a scoped rifle in almost 6 months.
I haven't shot much at all (for me) the last two years.
I haven't done any of what I would call "precision rifle shooting" in decades.
(And basically just spent over a week sick in bed, yes top of my game!)
So it was a morning of "oh yeah"s. Oh yeah, I need to do this. Oh yeah I need to do that. Oh yeah, I forgot I can't do that. Oh yeah, that's why I stopped using this. Oh yeah, I really should have brought my sandbags, I forgot this rest is not really the best for this. All coming back to me in dribs and drabs, too late.
I was also yanking and crankin', as well as shooting with one eye on the clock. I fired way too many rushed and "eh good enough" pulls of the trigger. Shots are marked "me" where I clearly cranked em off the group and one or two "oopsies".
Everything is new to me. Rifle, scope, cartridge, new dies, virgin brass. Literally the first rounds of 6.5CM I've loaded and fired. (I have a 6CM, but the rifles couldn't be any more different)
Horn. 147 ELD M, Lapua SP brass (both chosen solely because they were available)
IMR 4831 and CCI 400 , both chosen because I had a little and could find data.
Loads were chosen using the "EMMM load calculator" (Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.)
Same for the bullet seating depth, just middle of the road.
The first two groups I had some issues closing the bolt once or twice. I'm writing it off to funky brass caused by setting up the dies. After that there were no issue, bolt throw and closing got smoother and slicker the more I shot.
100yd
First shots with the rifle.
I figured if it'll do this just by my plunking my finger down on a chart, it's gonna shoot okay.
But lots of this, this is ALL me. This load is worth trying again if shot right.
There are others but it's much the same. Me screwing up what should have been decent groups. I have lots to remember when it comes to bench shooting, and having time to take my time is a big thing.
