I need help with choosing a good and not completely expensive .308 Winchester. Right now I'm looking at a Savage 10 FCP-SR rifle.

The Savage 10 is a great rifle, and very upgradable for when you want to improve it in the future. Easily one of the most accurate factory rifles if not the most accurate, I have a Savage 16 and love it.

What do you need it for? For shooting steel, Savage or Remington would be good. For hunting you might consider a Tikka T3. I've got one in .308. For a factory rifle, the T3 action is pretty smooth.

Well I am a sharpshooter in tranining and i want a .308 rifle im hoping to spend no more than about $1100- $1200. I am planning on putting a vortex spope on it. I will mostly be using it for long range target shooting. I may take it out and get an antelope and an elk each season. So not alot of hunting more targets. What do you have to say about scopes?

A vortex scope would be a great starter. I'd lean towards a First Focal Plane (FFP) with a mil reticle and .1 mil adjustment click value. A scope with these features makes for an easy learning process.

I believe stock skins attach to a chassis, in this case the AICS. Since AI doesn't make an AICS for Savages, the answer would be no.
For that budget, I'd recommend the Savage 10FCP-McMillan. The stock alone is worth $500+. Down the road, you can glass bed it or have someone else glass bed it for you, but you won't out grow it like you will with many other stocks.

http://www.albertatacticalrifle.com/accessories.html, these guys make a chassis for the savage series of rifles that use AI skins so I would assume that the victor company skins would work also.
