Rifle Scopes New Schmidt & Bender PM2 6-36x56

5-20x50 PM II Ultra Short LPI MSR2 1cm ccw DT II+ MTC LT / ST II ZC CT 173-911-862-M2-I5
$5.920,00

Absurd.

6-36x56 PM II US LPI P5FL 1cm cw DT II+ MTC LT / ST II ZC CT 163-911-64F-M3-I6 = $5.170,00 before tax
That's some pretty stiff inflation.
Holy.Fuckin.Shit

I think when the preorder comes in I’m taking the 4hr drive to EU before I cash out. I have a hard time dropping that kind of cash without seeing it in person.

These prices are getting ridiculous.
I wonder where the cut off point will finally be.
Like the smart phone thing, they finally cut off the prices at $1,000 for the phones because people just wouldn't buy them anymore.

I mean a Theta runs you $5K retail now. 😬

I want this scope, but between the Thetas, ZCO, and Razor Gen 3 I don’t have a host. The .22LR with the Gen 3 doesn’t need a $5K Schmidt.

Everything is out of control. $5 plus for gas, German and Canadian scopes way up. I see NF hasn’t raised their prices but I expect that to change as the raw material prices have risen.

It’s not the rising raw material prices that’s the reason. It’s the machining and laboring that stands for most of a scopes price.

Essentially, it’s greed.
We haven’t seen price hike on scopes here in Denmark.
Talked with two very nice German S&B reps yesterday at a game fair.
As I was standing there, trying to figure out the best way to run away with their 10 different PM scopes, I asked about pricing.
They said that there very minor adjustments, and that I should ask the danish importer.
Got this very specific feeling that they weren’t too happy about importers using the crisis as an excuse to bump their prices.

But the 6x36 and the new 5x25, gawd, do need new glass.
Oh, and the STR spotter from Swarovski - pure sex. Had to take a good long look at the ATX/BTX/STX combo - thanks to Horta’s moon picture - damn.

Anyways, I think the importers are to blame for the pricing going north.
If it were because of raising production cost and materials, how come the “midtier” scopes are still more or less the same…

Eurooptic rep didnt sound too pleased at S&B.

No idea who thought a 20% price increase across the board was a good idea. No idea why anyone in this price bracket would consider S&B at this point with ZCO/TT priced BETTER now

Did you confirm with euro that the price v sheet posted above is in fact what they will be updating their prices too?

They confirmed that the price list is accurate, however they are still in discussion with S&B to try to lower it before they finalize it for EO's listings.
Yea SB is high if they think sales will continue or pick up when you are priced North orf zco and ty

I guess the ~5-6% recent increases from ZCO and TT doesn't looks so bad now...

They added $100 of value to the scope and are charging $1,000 more for the upgrade…….

No brainer at this point. S&B is going to regret this for sure.
And their dealer agreements prohibit European dealers from shipping to U.S. as well, which is common.

yeah, LMT is hilarious, increase the price exponentially and decrease the quality to Anderson level.
Bruh. Right??

The >$6K 5-20US hit me hard since I was shopping for that last summer and was looking in the sub $4K range. Guess I’ll deal with the weight of a ZC420!
Oh yeah, that one was insane too. LOL.

Ive looked through a ZCO420 and I can see why its raved upon. Not too long and excellent IQ and the diopter setting wasn't even adjusted to my eyes.

I paid $4095 to Doug for a Short Dot Dual CC Pantone in 2019.
Shortly after that S&B went to EU as their only distributor and Doug stopped selling S&B.
Have to figure out which Turrets and Reticle I want in the 6-36 and find the price.
Not looking forward to the price.

That explains the ridiculous price increase from 4K to 5K. I really dont like S&B as a company. Shame, they make good shit.

Bruh. Right??
Guess the American importer don’t want to compete with European dealers, since that would not benefit their huge markup.

Glanced at the prices you guys pay, fuck.
Somebody is obviously betting on a higher markup with fewer units sold.

In essence, it’s all fair, since you guys get Photonis tubes for a bargain, while we in EU pay almost double, since Photonis is more or less the only supplier of quality intensifier tubes.

Since the US doesn’t really own the night anymore, it would only be fair if ITAR for NV/Thermal was lifted… oh well, one can dream…

yeah but with ZCO and TT i wouldn't give schmidt the time of day anymore. And i used to defend them against the new age crowd lol

I think some German companies have a higher-than-average tendency to fantasize that they are the premium option.

My experience with a used BMW 5-series and with Japanese digital cameras would beg to differ.

It is hard to finally realize one is not on top anymore.

It’s a shame I don’t like any of the reticles.

Euros dont pay as much. The config with the MTII turrets is at 5500 USD. Before taxes😂

how long is the wait? read somewhere that they dont show live inventory
They don’t. From what they’ve said, it’s pretty much a small shop that drop ships (no storefront or in person pick-ups). …which sucks because I’m two hours away and would prefer to pick up in person if I’m spending essentially $4K somewhere down the road from me. That company is expecting the SB’s to start shipping in the summer, but we all know that’s up to S&B actually keeping to the timeline.

2.975 euros at 1.10 $/euro is like $3,300

eta: am i missing something?
You can also scroll down the site and select USD as the currency option. Without VAT, the black DTII+ is at $3,820 if I remember correctly. Makes it super easy.

How does the ITAR rules work for importing stuff like this into the US?

I know that trying to export a S&B scope out of the US would result in trouble, but what about the other way?

If no issues, then why not plan a small vacation to the other side of the pond, and arrange to pick up one in person? Would still leave you with a bit change to spare…

Optics-Trade wouldn’t ship me one, doubt these guys will.

Watch out with importing scopes through those sites, not only do you run the risk of a counterfeit but they might not be warrantied in the country that it lands. I remembet that happening with Premier for example and was a reason that TT would check the serial number before they would agree to servicing a scope.

Looks like buying from Europe is the way to go. If I buy from Europe, is Europtic still our point of contact if we need it serviced?
Probably not.

Us non US people have these issues when parallel importing scopes from the US.

The local distributor often doesn't want look after the warranty on a product they didn't import, has been some shit fights over the years with Vortex and the (somewhat local) importer not dealing with warranty claims.

In many ways I don't blame the importer not being happy about it but if I can buy a product at full retail overseas, pay all the taxes, and non-bulk airfreight shipping and still come out 25% ahead I don't see that I am the bad guy in the situation.

Dont worry, I said I’d buy a ZCO…
