). You've got a nice scope brother, do a little research and learn to use it right.

So,in a perfect world and not considering bore to scope height you will have around 21.5 moa of usable elevation if you zero at 100yds with a flat base.

I have never seen a scope, base, rifle combination zero in the exact middle of the scopes adjustment range. But as you said, "in a perfect world" that should be the case.

Re: newbie moa scope question

this is going on a remington 700 xcr in 300 winmag.... I am hoping to shoot holes in paper at 200 yrds ...... and 5 times a year run down to thundervalley in ohio (I live 45 min away) and shoot a cours out to 1500 meters. Just trying to figure out how to go about doing this.

Re: newbie moa scope question

To shoot out to 1000 yards or more, you need to put the scope on a 20moa base. Most people use a picatinny rail base. That will give you 1/2 of your 48, 24+20=44 moa of up elevation which should get you out past 1000 yards, not sure it will get you to 1500 though.

To find out how many moa you need to shoot out at distances, you need to learn how to make ballistic charts. Most use "jbm ballistic trajectory" software available free on the web. Google it.
