Hey guys new here and just thought I'd post up what I got to introduce myself and hopefully start reading everything I can to make my shots better.
I've always been fascinated by long range shooting. I went to Vegas in oct of 2012, found a shooting range that had a .50 Barret M82 with an 880 yard range. Made the short trip out of town and did some shooting. First time behind a center fire rifle and I hit the target 3 times out of 5. The guy said I did good and most people don't do that well. My cousin tried and only hit it twice. Well now I'm hooked. I come home start researching long range shooting and stumble on at the time the start of a YouTube series called sniper 101. I've since watched every video and eagerly wait for the next one every time. This week to get me started in training I picked up a Savage Mark II F from Cabelas here in Canada. The rifle was $200 and I picked up a vortex diamondback scope for it too. All said and done I have about $400 into the setup and I'm excited to start shooting.
I've seen a ton of different cleaning suggestions for long range guns but all of them are for center fire guns. What do you guys do for your rim fire guns? How often, till a patch is white? do you reverse in the barrel or only push one direction? All little things that seem so easy but to a beginner who wants to do everything perfect and tends to over think things may seem more complicated than it needs to be lol.
Anyone have some good tips for a beginner or links I can read? I'm always looking to learn more and get as much info as I can on all aspects long range. Just hoping to learn as much as I can about rim fire long range before I move on to my plan for a center fire rifle
