Rifle Scopes NF ATACR vs Vortex Razor

It seems to have made it through UPS.... same torture test sometimes

LOL good point.

Anecdote: Right after I got my Gen II Razor, I had borrowed my buddies Ultra 9 (I'm on his trust) while mine was still in jail. I had the rilfe which is 18 + lbs propped up on my Luckett sticks. Suddeny it started to roll sideways, of the stick.UGH!! I lept into action, sacrficing the new scope, to protect my buddy's Ultra 9. Success! But the scope bounced off the dirt, hard. I figuired well there is my first scratch and I'll need to re-zero. Not a scratch and not a change in zero. I was pleasantly surprised. Not the NF text by a long-shot but still good.

Well, your trolling has been entertaining, but at this point, youre just wasting bandwidth and contributing nothing.
Trolling? There is a difference between anecdote and data. Similarly, there is a difference between someone "trolling" and someone who simply hurt your feelings. Sorry you felt the latter but I thought you could "get" as good as you could "give". It was meant in good fun. I will try to be more gentle when posting your way in the future. :p

I for one, find the information in this thread informative. Your posts have argued some damn good points, as have the counterpoints. We are damn lucky in the shooting community to have two such great companies building such great products and competing hard for our business. I hope to own a NF one day. Meanwhile I don't see letting go of my Razor Gen II anytime soon.

Cheers

that is MY scope off MY rifle. I also have the video of it. It ripped the base off the rifle with the rings still attached to it, blew a 2 inch hole in the bottom of the scope and launched the assembly 40 yards away where I had to find it.

I hope the ammo manufacture replaced the rifle...

Luckily that blast blew the scope away from your face or your love for NF would be much more permanent.....

It was a whole bag of finger pointing since no one could prove if it was the rifle (only had 20 rounds on it), the ammo, a component here or there etc. Manufacturer ended up replacing the rifle and I chalked it up to lesson learned. That was my first "big bore", and I spent a lot of time with 308 after before I got back into 338 Lapua!

I have a senior contact at Vortex. I'm going to see if they can be talked into doing this test on their you-tube channel....Worth a try. Some emails to them from you all, might help tip the scale....

Sure would be interesting if you could share your thoughts on why the failure, ie, what type of rifle/action, factory ammo or reload, overcharge or maybe wrong powder, just a rare & unexplainable catastrophic failure, etc etc. Might even save some other bloke from having a similiar experience. What say you there FM?

Yeah I watched the night force test video and that is pretty convincing. I would like to see vortex compete with that durability. I also handled a 4.5-27 at a show and the locking turrets seem like a pain? I am very much leaning nightforce.
