The FC2 and SPR reticles with their circle wide duplex give you plenty of hold-off and fixed elevation aiming points. Both scopes weigh-in right at one pound.
Hard to see why the 32mm version became so popular, unless they put mil/mil turrets on there which they failed to do with the 24mm??? Not like a bigger objective really matters that much, plus NF did not include side-focus parallax control; now that would've made the scope Really Something....
Actually the 2.5-10 24mm is still a super viable design; if they promoted it. Makes me wonder about the 1-4x.
It amazes me to see how many guys build .308 bolt rifles with these superbo otpic boat-anchor weighing scopes. If you are going to haul around a 19lb rifle, at least tote one that will reachout and deliver a punch.
Have my 2.5-10x mounted in low Leupold rings on-top a Larue 101 qd riser. The rifle is an AR-10T with GAP carbine upper 18" bbl. Damn handy, fast reacting or able to make a decent long shot. Doesn't weigh over 12.5lbs even with loaded 20rd mag. Guess I could've kept the 8-32x NXS I had but who needs a scope and ring outfit that's closing in on 4lbs?
NightForce knows its market. Too bad so many American shooters have embraced the mantra of "precision and accuracy are everything" when they're not. Most the duffers who buy this heavy-assed shit don't have a clue what it's like to carry their gear further than from the parking lot to a bench. Half of them use golf-caddy wagons or a dolly to setup their gear for a day at the bench. Sheeeit... Try shooting one of them rifles from standing with a sling.
Forget the axiom that is first-cousin to Murphy's Law, but it basically means that any really useful products will tend to be the one's eliminated by their mfr.
So long 2.5-10x </div></div>
+1 but have to disagree with one thing you said, "Too bad so many American shooters have embraced the mantra of "precision and accuracy are everything"".....they have only embraced the mantra of "bigger is always better" Like you said, that works great from the parking lot to the range. Heck, while we're at it, might as well mount that sucker to the top of your SUV, cuzz you sho aint carrying it anywhere.
