I've never handled one of these scopes but just bought one blind. At the price paid I can flip it and get my money back at the very least. Plan is to stick it on a lightweight hunting rifle. I don't tend to need super high performance at dawn/dusk but I'm interested in any feedback other users have. Cheers, BP

I don’t have the x24, rather the slightly bigger brother x32. Like you, I have it mounted on a hunting rifle. Absolute powerhouse. Seeing how NF doesn’t make the x32 anymore, I will never get rid of it. Small and light, parallax free for the ranges I would shoot with my 270, and mil-dot reticle. Did I mention it has a mil-dot reticle? Nothing not to like about their OG compacts. If you don’t like it on the hunting rifle (I think you will though), stick it on an AR and call it a day.

Criticism I've seen is eye-box and low light performance. Some users have reported eye fatigue given the small exit pupil and finicky eye-box. All other performance seems to be typical of NF (track, reliable etc). How large is the reticle at 10x.

I have no problem with the eye box or the visual clarity at all; But I’m not laying behind it all day trying to observe a kill-zone. For a movement to contact on piggies, 2.5 power is fantastic. ;-)

It’s okay at dusk and gets you to legal shooting light just fine. After dark, I’ve shot plenty of pigs with my 200 lumen light fired up and my illumination on. The reticle and the illumination is great by the way. Turrets are quite nice and seem to stay put.

I think it’s just about perfect for a semi-auto hunting rifle.

It’s a second focal plane scope so the reticle doesn’t change size to answer your question (I think). But it looks great at 10x.

I have one on my AR15 with the Mil-R reticle, and I love it. Low light does suck near 10x, but usable if you need to make a shot. The fixed parallax isn't an issue to me because the tight eye box forces you to be in almost perfect position to see everything. I love how compact and low profile it is, so I doubt I will sell it unless a great replacement pops up.

I have one of the 2015 re release versions with the Mil-R and enjoy it...sits on my DD blk 2 and is great for making hits to 500 with Hornady Superformance 75g and Black Hills 77g match ammo. Glass is bright and clear, optic is light weight for its power range. illumination works well in broad daylight and decent at dusk. I keep it on 10x and use a T1 in an off set mount for close in plinking.

@Conrad101st - nice set up!

I sold mine and got a Bushnell 3-12 LRHS which I liked much better, but I shot my AR farther out than most did at the time. I got a 6mmFatRat upper so I use that for longer distances now and put a 1-8 on the 223 upper.

I didn't like that the housing didn't show what rev I was on and IIRC?? only 10 moa turrets. It's a fine scope for general AR work, though glass wasn't all that great.

If using on lower mag being SFP and while hunting at medium ranges it'd be okay.

Thanks for the input, Steve. I have a LRTSi (4.5-18) which I think very highly of, and I've had a bunch of the LRHS - fantastic scopes all around. I'm trying to reduce weight on this rifle which makes the NF appealing, but time will tell how usable it is. My 2.5-10 is in mils, and 5 mils takes me a fair way out there on a 6.5CM hunting rifle, so the lack of rev indicator isn't a problem in my use case - Most of my hunting is inside 500m.

I get the feeling I'm going to like this scope a lot. First impressions are very good. Love the small footprint, glass is better than I was expecting and shouldering the rifle has presented no issues with the eye-box. Range time to check tracking tomorrow.

The x24 is my favorite scope ever made. I've had many x32's and sold them all. Behind the scope I don't notice any difference between the two so I go for the more compact scope. The tight eyebox complaints are overblown, just got to find the optimal ring height and it's a complete non-issue. I've taken a 2-day DMR class with it didn't experience eye fatigue once.
