New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Wondering if I can get some opinions. I have a line on a NF SHV 4-14 ffp brand new for 1k. I'm liking the price, but it is an older model. Does anyone have insight on comparable new glass at the same price +/- 200 bucks? Thanks guys
The mk4hd is a much better optic for the money. Better glass better fov better reticles. The shv is a decent scope but they should cost 6-700....not 1k+.

SHV were fine 15 years ago (I owned a couple), but times have changed. Vortex PST Gen II 3-15 and Viper HD 3-15 are better, for well under $1000 new shipped, especially with the coupon codes. Even the 5-25 is around $1000, and the Razor LHT isn't much more.

The new Vortex Viper HD scopes are way better than the SHV for $999... I would buy another one of these before buying a PST-II. The new Viper HD has more features, like a locking elevation turret (like the Razor scopes), and a capped windage. The glass is really nice for the price, too. I've had mine since they came out, and it's impressed me.
