If you can swing the 7x great, nothing wrong with the 5x.

You do understand "context" would be when he mentioned 5-25 or 7-35....some would call that a clue.

Yes I know the difference.
I've seen stupider things than a 300 PRC used as a short range gun.
Perhaps if the OP gave an idea of the distance he hopes to shoot at and his quarry of choice I would be able to help, otherwise any potential advantage or disadvantaged of either option will be based off more assumptions than facts.
I have both. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I wanted another 5-25 until I got behind a 7-35 and I ordered a 7-35 the next day. For little diference in weight and size they are a step up in my opinion. For what the 300 is capable of the extra glass can come in handy.
Plan is to use the rifle for targets from 100-2000 yards, large game hunting, and possibly competition.
If you don’t mind the weight for hunting and 2000yrds is the goal, the choice for me would be simple. 7-35 ATACR would better allow me to stretch to 2000. If weight for hunting is a consideration I might make a different choice with the knowledge that I’m giving up advantage for distance JM2C. At 25 with 20/10 vision I would roll with less magnification. At 52 with a degrading 20/15 I lean toward more magnification to take me back to what the good lord blessed me with when I was younger. How is your vision and how does it play a part in your goal?
Dude WAIT till it comes out in the NEW MXT RETICLE....I think NF is going to sell a lot more of these atacr optics. The biggest downside is weight but the clarity is fantastic I have both the 5-25 and 4-16 mil C. Weight is the biggest issue with any 34 MM FFP high quality objective ootic
You'd be further ahead just admitting you misread or were talking out of your ass.
OP, the physical differences b/w the 25 and 35 are so negligible, go for the 35 if you have the budget. If not, the 25 will do 95% of what you need it to.

I don’t buy new glass unless it’s absolutely necessary so close to Shot. However, for a pure LR rig I like having the extra mag. I rock 25x and 27x optics’s on slug guns and Smoke poles, I rarely crank it up, but it’s there when I want it.
Interesting.....I’m assuming because something else better may come down the pike? Or did I miss your idea completely?

You nailed it. It’s like buying a new vehicle and then the new model comes out dropping the value of yours instantly. I do a lot of trading and selling, so I have to pay attention to such things.
A plus of the 7-35x no one has mentioned here yet is it can parallax down inside 10yds. Which would be useful for 25yd .22lr dot drills ... I use it for in the house dry firing. Amazing that a 7-35x optic can parallax down that low ... not many "high end" optics can, but the 7-35x is among them.
I mostly shoot with it in the day time between 15x - 20x for long distance ... and at 25x for 100yd dots and groups ...
I use the 26x to 35x magnification range for day time spotting.
I shoot at night with the magnification between 7x and 10x.
Also, as is usually mentioned in comparisions between the 5-25x and 7-35x atacrs ... the 7-35x actually has more elevation, even though the specs say otherwise. One of the worst kept secrets ...

Btw, I own Kahles (love the optic just couldn’t get use to the parallax)....., I own U.S. Optics 5-25x58....
wow! I didn’t know that! So I could technically use it for .22 LR PRS shooting...PLEASE NO ONE LAUGH.....I have a heck of a time seeing the targets and the 5-25 Atacr only parallax’s down to 50 meters (now I can always cut the power down to 10)....BUT SERIOUSLY THAT IS SO AMAZING
I'm always shocked when I see a ×35 on a 22, for no other reason than jelously, but I do use mine for dry firing in the house. Pick screw holes on the front door, and do your drills.
How much more elevation? I’m learning a lot about PRS shooting right now. I thought that my Leupold Mark 6 w/ H59 Reticle was great glass until I found the Nightforce Atacr 4-16 Mil C and in comparison my Leupold Mark 6 H59’s while the same price aren’t as good...IMHO in terms of optical clarity....
I am really wanting this to be my next scope, I am worried about the magnification and twisting scope flip cap. I can't imagine not having a scope cap, and I am concerned how distracting it will be adjusting the magnification.
The tenebrax scope cap it comes with also twists ... it has two parts ... and part that connects to the eyepiece end and rotates with the eyepiece and a part that twists separately, so you can move it and position it independently while moving the eye piece.

Well if you are adjusting the magnification - you're already doing that - but yes - I also adjust the direction the rear cap is pointing when changing the magnification (if I have time). I'm usually shooting at night (since I work in the day) and I typically have a radius on top and so don't want the cap pointing up. And I want to be able to run the bolt, so don't want the cap to the right and often have an HPR102 on the left side, so don't want the cap over there. For me the ideal place for the cap to flip to is about 0230 (up and right). So I try to keep it there.
U could technically remove the scope cap u wanted to, but tenebrex caps are by far the best caps I’ve ever used. On my NXS optics NF g ave me these rubber caps which are a bit of a pain but they are better quality than Kahles optic which came w/ NO CAPS. Don’t let the caps dissuade u from buy an ATACR optic....I literally have about 20 optics and the ATACR’s aremy favorite FFP optic’s period and what’s great is NF IS ONLY GETTING BETTER....,
I pulled off my caps and just run a scope coat. Without the caps I love the rotating ocular
Agree that this is also a viable option. I’m just so happy that the Tenebrex Scope covers action come with the Atacr Line because they are very good optical protection. Additionally, when I purchased my Kahles 6-24i x56 SMK3 (this is also a world class optic except a few idiosyncrasies that may cause me to end up selling it and it’s still practically new)....havignsaid that my Kahles came with no scope covers and instead when I purchased the optic I,also,purchased a scope sock from Kahles for $60.00 (you,would think for an optic close to 3000 they would include scope covers.....JMHO.....
