Two of the best in class I can think of. If you were in the market for this magnification which would you buy?

I started a thread a short while ago asking for opinions/experience with a line of high magnification scopes. After giving some thought, I've decided to go a little over the budget I was originally contemplating to make more options available. Still, even around $2,000, there's just not many companies (that I'm aware of) that have dedicated BR scopes in high magnification.

At what I've found to be comparable in price are the new Nightforce Competition and March's Benchrest models.

Does anyone have any feedback, experience, or opinions on either of these. I make the assumption that both will have terrific qualities, but I have not a clue how they stack against each other. Any information or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks again-

Sib1948, Russ Hardy,

Thanks for your responses.

Couple questions:

Does the glass or other parts of the scope vary in quality on the March between the BR and tactical line?

Nightforce: I heard the glass was improved on a bit, I had no idea it was thay significant. Is this the same glass they are using in the new ATACR and BEAST? Any thoughts on the rest of the scopes function?

Thanks again,
Much appreciated

I'd roll NF on that one....looked thru and shot with a March Benchrest and wasn't impressed at all, to say the least. The NF benchrests on the other hand, wow me. I know that's not real subjective, but that's my small experience with the two that were mentioned.

HD1911,

Are you referring to the new Nightforce Competition 15-55x or the older BR models (8-32 12-48) with AO?

If the March BR were not up to the original NF Benchrest models that would be quite disappointing. Especially since they are nearly twice their price. Was it specifically the glass you were unimpressed with? Lack of contrast or resolution?

Thanks-

The new NF is sweet, I got to look through it yesterday.

I know after SHOT I spoke to a few other scope manufacturers and they felt the 15-55x was the nicest of its class. They were really impressed with what they saw.

I have very little need for one, but it's on my list to get as I am impressed with it.

I have a March Tactical and I am not a big fan of them. I think they are bit too picky eye box wise and are fine for BR or F Class, but for tactical work, they are just too unforgiving to get behind.

The new Nightforce scopes have really stepped up, they have improved the quality of the coatings to give the picture more pop as people have requested, while still maintaining their resolution. So any complaints you might have had in the past have been erased.

March tactical scopes are FFP with matching reticle and turrets and clear optics with great zero stop. Agree that eye box can be a little picky. Just ordered the NF BEAST, since it seems they've stepped up their game and created a FFP scope in 5-25 magnification. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed.

Hi.
I think MARCH ahead.

Yes I was referring to the 8-32 NF. Great resolution and clarity on max power, couldn't say the same for the March.
