Is the 3.5x low enough for tactical use on an LMT 308? Would you get the 3x15 or the 5x22 NF scope for an LMT308?

Just wanted a scope that could do it all. Would it be better to remove the scope and go to Irons during a SHTF city fighting moment?

Re: Nightforce power question

I like 3-15 on everything. I don't shoot BR anymore and simply don't find the need for anything over 15x when the furthest I ever shoot is 1000m.

Three power is low enough to take a buck in the tree lines, 15x is high enough for precise shot placement.

My vote, 3-15.

Re: Nightforce power question

Why would you every consider removing the scope...

the idea of the optics is to extend your range and put the other guy at a disadvantage.

3-15X is considered a very good range with a variable scope, if you think you're going to be moving and need an "oh shit" options, put a Docter or Trijicon TMR on it with a 30mm ring mount.

I wouldn't even waste my time with Irons on a rifle with a full power optic on it. There are so many better options that don't require you to quit the fight. You'd have to put a round through the glass before i would consider irons over the reticle even if the turrets were cut off.

Re: Nightforce power question

with a 308 you shouldn't need anything more than a 15power.

I run my 22x on my 7wsm and ran the 15x on the 243. I just bought a 10x and will be putting it on the 7-08
