So the. 300wm should be sighted in @ 500 yards? Or is that caliber specific?

Re: Nightforce's new Velocity 1000 reticle.

I have a LV out to 600 yard reticle, it flat out works, just follow the zero procedure from the website, mine is zeroed at 207 yards on the center crosshair. If you sight it in at 500,use the 500 line

Re: Nightforce's new Velocity 1000 reticle.

I have one on a 16" AR10 that matches the Velocity and I zeroed it on paper at 500 yards, on the 500 yard line... it then matches up very well and is very fast. I have shot it too 800 yards and in, once zeroed at 500 it was pretty much dead on.

Mine is slightly different in it has mils too, I think it's a better option for people with one rifle than something like a Horus. Very little thinking involved, the spacing is easier to handle and it is a lot less cluttered so, I think it does well.

Re: Nightforce's new Velocity 1000 reticle.

I have the LV5 reticle and it is set up for the 308.Call Nightforce and they will tell you what reticle you need to match your cal. and MV.If you go with the 1000 reticle sight the reticle in at 500 yards to match the 500 yards on the reticle that way you are in the middle of the max range of the reticle. If you sight in at 100 yards and move to the 500 yard line you could be off by 1/2 to 1 moa at 500.

Re: Nightforce's new Velocity 1000 reticle.

May I ask what load is the reticle graduated for (bullet and velocity)?
Environmental conditons, sea level + standard temp. + pressure or???
meters or yards?

Does the rest of the reticle is graduated in mils?

I think they should add the "quick and dirty" rangefinder (the one that subtends 1.00 m at several distances)

Re: Nightforce's new Velocity 1000 reticle.

I got LV.5 on my F1 for deer hunting and it seems to be spot on at all ranges I use it for dispatching deer at our local airport and with runways of a mile and a half I get a lot of 4 to 500 yard shots I was using a Nikon Monarch last year and it was an ok scope but I really didn't like the reticle..... any way it worked but I must say I like the wind markers on the night force, just getting used to the FFP is kind of a trip for me.
Happy Hunting

Re: Nightforce's new Velocity 1000 reticle.

Not shooting one I can't comment on accuracy, but I have checked the layout of lowlight's and I must say it might just be perfect. Like he said his is different so it might be unobtanium in origin but it sure will make you want to start throwing other scopes away lol.
