I just got one in a deal. It is mounted on a 30-06 hunting rifle. The reticle has 4 circles on the vertical post. Has anyone used this scope before and can it handle the recoil of a hunting rifle in 30-06? If the consensus is no then I'll switch to a Leupold with the B&C reticle before hunting season.

Anyone?

Re: Nikon Prostaff 3-9 scope

I think that is Nikon's BDC reticle... when used "correctly", you can use the intersecting lines as reference points for your drop at different distances (without dialing it in the elev. knob).

I have a prostaff 3-9 with regular duplex on my 10-22, and works great... haven't found another scope that is as clear and as nice at that price range.

But I have no idea how it will take repeated 30-06 recoil. Consensus seems to be that they are well put together scopes.

Ok - the Nikon website shows the BDC reticle with the crosshairs to be the 100 yd zero on a standard cartridge and the 200 yd zero on a Magnum cartridge. So what does the 30-06 fit into ?? What about using the Hornady Superformance ammo that is faster than normal 30-06 factory ammo.

I have a Prostaff 3-9x40 on my M70 300WSM, it was on my Mini-14 before I got the Win. Has held zero and and still good and clear. Survived the pounding from the Mini, and is standing up to the 300WSM just fine. Should be just fine on a hunting rig, IMHO.
