Rifle Scopes Nikon Range finder

Re: Nikon Range finder

I have not used the Nikon, although I was close to ordering that same model. The mixed reviews put me off. Specifically, people said that it had trouble ranging anything over 500 yards unless it was a house, and that it is not great in low light. I ended up getting the Zeiss Victory and it has been excellent. It is about double the cost, though.

Re: Nikon Range finder

Thanks, I'm hoping Nikon has corrected all of the ranging problems. I do have a soccer complex at the end of the street. I think I can get a 1000 yrd optical test shot at various targets and test this thing. If need be I'll send it back.

Re: Nikon Range finder

Only part of the issue is the RF doing it's job on a coyote at 800, the other half is actually being able to hold it steady enough! I'm sure there are RFs that could, but you'd be hard pressed to actually be able to.

I have the model, and I like it, works very well. But for that small of a target that far away, you might want to find a Leica instead.

Re: Nikon Range finder

The only ones I would consider for your application is a Leica, Zeiss or Swarovski. I own a Leica and am very happy with it. I have seen excellent reviews on these models, but not so great reviews on any others. Shorter ranges would change my view.

Euro optics had a demo for a lot less than full price. Great deal.
