Like already said, this has already been happening. LED bulbs are so much better now, last loads longer, and the prices have come way down. My 94 yo Dad wanted me to buy some 100w incandescent bulbs for him. They were very difficult to find in the box store and then we’re almost the same price as equivalent LED bulbs.
I bought him LEDs and installed one and never told him it wasn’t incandescent. He remarked how it was a better light and brighter than his old bulbs. Case closed.

I bought incandescent because it meant I was able to buy bulbs that weren't made in China.
That’s a good reason. I’ll be honest and say I haven’t explored if LED bulbs are made anywhere else. As much as I never support China as a country, the manufacturing issue is one that we caused ourselves and will have to dig out of ourselves.
Too many large companies moved their manufacturing base to China chasing short-term profits and to avoid the unions. That allowed smaller companies with no/limited manufacturing capabilities to farm out their manufacturing to China with little capital outlay. It was all so easy.
Now, many are seeing the problems with that model, though the warning signs were always there. Not even considering that they were supporting an extremely U.S. antagonistic communist regime.
We have always been capable of solving our problems here on U.S. soil, but the globalists want all countries to be entwined with others so that they can be manipulated easier.

There are many amazing chandelier LED bulbs available. I replaced my parents chandelier bulbs with LEDs and they are great. Also dimmable if you wish. You can literally get an LED to fit/match any style out there except some of the halide lamp mounts.
I'll just say if you haven't checked out LED bulbs, give them a try. They are cheaper in the long run, produce less heat (big deal in TX), run on (sognificantly) less power (cost less!).
In other words it's actually a good alternative that benefits the customer and isn't some virtue signaling.

You guys don’t get it. It doesn’t matter how fucking good LED’s are or aren’t. You now have the government BANNING the sale of an item in the private sector that is completely safe and commonplace, just because they don’t like it.
And what about all the uses for incandescent bulbs that involve more than just light? I use them to heat my dogs outdoor doghouse in the winter. 1 bulb keeps his house around 50-60 degrees in all but the coldest weather. An LED won’t do that.
If I’m building fishing rods, I’ve found an incandescent light was perfect for warming the finish on guide threads to allow bubbles to escape and promote glass-like finish.
The point is, these are tools. Some tools use more energy than others, but that’s MY choice as I’m the one paying for the fucking energy. If this is allowed to stand, what can’t they take away from you?

I’ve yet to find an LED bulb last as long as advertised. They do run much cooler and cheaper though.

If I came across as as flexing my moral superiority, that was not my intent. Nor was it to accuse anyone of failing a purity test.
I was trying to point out the severity of this overreach despite the fact that it might be hidden to many people because there are a lot of really good alternatives to incandescent bulbs. Saying“it’s government overreach but” and then making points about either bulb type makes the argument “LED versus” instead of “ Should government have the power to…”?
I think we conservatives need to be more careful about how we frame these arguments
I use LED's in my inside/outside house and both garages (a lot of lights) not because of being green or energy cost. Primarily because of amp usage. If the power goes out, I can light up my entire house with LED's with almost zero amperage draw compared to incandescent bulbs if I'm using a generator or AC inverter. The new LED's have soft tones, etc. that are not bright white that look just like an old incandescent.
I've measured the amperage draw on most things in my house. LED's leaves me a lot of amps for other things while the lights are still on.

I wonder if the specialty bulbs are included in the ban. I’ve used the incandescent blacklight bulbs ( can’t remember if 60 or 75 watts)in the doghouse before, and they heat pretty well without being so bright.
A few years ago I went with LED replacements for all the 8-foot fluorescents in my shop. Thought I was getting away from having to work on them for at least a few years. The LEDs don't seem to last as long as the old ones did despite the promised life of like 30 yrs for the LEDs. Now at least half of them are out completely or only half lit up. And the ones that are working now likely won't work this winter when the weather cools off.
Certain specialty bulbs like for microwave lights are not banned, I know that much.
Because they cheaped them down and pumped them up.
In the early days of in home LED bulbs I bought one that was probably all of “15 watt equivalent”, put it in my living room and left it on 24/7 for about 15 years. Of course that one single bulb cost me about $45
It still worked when I stopped using it, some of its many diodes has stopped working, but it was still quite usable. I just needed more light there.
I design lighting for a living. Stay away from those direct replacements for the fluorescent tubes. They’re shit. A local school board wanted me to use those replacement tubes on a lighting retrofit job in several of their schools. I’m talking thousands of fixtures, replacing 10s of thousands of fluorescent tubes with direct replacement led tubes. I told them I would not use those tubes, and went with a retrofit kit instead, and in some instances, direct replace my of the fixture. They are muck happier, and it cost about the same. I won’t even buy those tubes for my junk at the house. I buy a new LED fixture instead.

I work automotive. LEDs will not be made as replacements for lots of incandescent bulbs used in automotive applications. The other issue is that LEDs do output blue light which is harmful to your eyes.

It probably also helps if you run color filtered ones like I do that give more of the warm light instead of just ultra white light.
It’s quite easy to replace fluorescent tubes with full LED by retrofit. Cut wires to ballast and direct wire. Did hundreds a few years ago in our offices.
I also will not use the direct replacement. In Addition to them not lasting as long, for best application you need to match the style to the ballast type. Not all ballasts are created equal.
I know that you know this, but thought a bit of education for those that didn’t is good.

how well will an '04 vintage 20 module Vantage-LeGrand system work and play with all this LED stuff. Took a fair amount of upfront work to set up all the loads and dimming patterns for ropes, Halogens / Incandescents out the wazoo as well as getting all that to comm with my back-up gen, but's been solid for the last 19 yrs.

The ones I installed in my shop do not use the ballast. Direct wire. I used this kind to eliminate the ballasts which were failing right and left. Also replacement ballasts cost more than the entire light assembly.
Now the Direct wired LEDs are failing right and left.
I bought some nice round ones at Lowe's for little money, that have adjustments on the rear so you can make them otter or cooler in color/temp.
If it hasn't already been mentioned, a big trend has been toward LED lighting integrated into the product- ceiling fan, light fixture, etc., and that puts even more products under the control of Chinese manufacturing, while robbing people of the ability to simply change out an LED bulb, forcing people to replace entire devices instead of just bulbs, and increasing the size and amount of stuff going to landfills.
NO, from what I've seen and heard you'd be better off to scrap them and use new ones designed for that purpose. I had a smaller space so I went with round ones like below but check out Lowe's or Home Deopt. they have many and cheap.

We replaced all of our 8’ fluorescents to twice as many 4’ LED fixtures in the production side. It seemed expensive, but ROI was less than 2 years. And the lighting was better.
