NOBODY is safe!

Re: NOBODY is safe!

There is a relationship with a company.
There is a relationship with your skill set and market for it.

They are not the same.

I averaged 2 years per company from 1978 to 2008.

The tricks with jobs:
1) What you see is what you get, don't expect a tomorrow.
2) Save money and invest. You will not always be in your prime.
3) Negotiate your rate if on site. If off site, invoice what you think they will pay.
4) Step one of a job is to define that task. That means documenting what a mess the previous guy left behind.

ArcticLight, you and I have followed similar paths, although I went to AIT at Huachuca and ended at UW.

I am a data storage consultant, I have been laid off 3 times in the last 2 years due to lack of work and have been fortunate to keep finding things to keep the family going with contract jobs and such. First time, unemployed for a week, second time 6 weeks, this 3rd time will start for me as of October 4th if I don't find something.

I am supposed to be hearing back today from HR at a very big storage vendor about a full time permanent opportunity, please keep your fingers crossed for me!

I hope you find something soon!
