Hunting & Fishing North Carolina Hogs - Suggestions needed?

Deer season ending at the end of Jan. here in Md. so I Have been on the web looking over some North Carolina hog hunting. Looks like hogs are present in the east and west sides of the state. Planning on calling NC DNR, but just interested if anybody has done any hog hunting in the eastern side of the state. Think it is more of a feral hog area than wild boar. Not really interested in an outfitter, just thought about killing a few days stomping around the swamps. Any thoughts or areas of interest appreciated.
