Rifle Scopes Novice Rifle Scope

Re: Novice Rifle Scope

You chose a good vendor, just the wrong scope. Forget the word Barksa, that scope or any Barska will be a negative return on investment from the second you push "pay now".

Why?, well to shoot long range you need to see long range. The Barska is horrible past 100Y, also the lenses are not always secured properly and they will loosen up and go out of focus.

You dont want to skimp on glass.

Here are some nice refurbished scopes in your price range http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentId=productSearch&searchItem=refurbished look at Nikon and Burris.

Welcome, but you may want to don your fire suit cuz the storm is a commin.

Re: Novice Rifle Scope

Dont bother with the high magnification scopes either. anything above 20 even on really good glass is hard to use as the glass gets dimmer and harder to hold your head in the right position.

I use a 3.5-15 and have had zero issues with enough magnification out to 1300+. In the low end scopes it's really a waste with anything over about 12-15x.

I hear guys reccomend the SWFA super sniper all the time, and those can be had in your price range.

Re: Novice Rifle Scope

i agree there really is no point to go out and buy a scope with so much magnification. you have to ask yourself when am i ever gonna shoot so far out that a 3.5-15 or something in that range will not work for.

Re: Novice Rifle Scope

You need to state more details about what weapon you're using, the distance you want to reach, and what you're using it for.
I would also strongly recommend against any Barska products. They have very poor quality on everything and wouldn't want you to waste your money on it.
Depending on your price range, you can choose from a SWFA SS up to a Vortex if you're looking at a lower budget. Don't be afraid to buy a quality scope on the used section from here as well.

Re: Novice Rifle Scope

Just say NO to Barska. There are ways to minimize expenses without resorting to junk glass. For the most part buying a Barska will be like throwing money away. I know decent glass seems expensive, but the saying "buy once, cry once" really is true. If you buy low quality you will be crying and crying and crying.
