Looking at getting a NRL22 build done. Having a hard time deciding if I want to go with a composite stock (Manners, McMillian, Grayboe, etc) or a precision chassis (XLR, MPA, MDT, etc). I don’t have the luxury of getting behind all of these rigs, so I am curious, how does one decide which one they want to go with? I’m leaning slightly towards a precision chassis since there is no bedding required, full arca rail, the multitude of accessories available, flexibility, etc... but was hoping to get some insight from people guys or gals who have experience with builds, different stocks and chassis, etc. I know this comes down to personal preference but hope I can be pointed in the right direction with some pros n cons. Hope y’all can help!

I plan on using the rifle to shoot paper, steel, possible NRL22 matches and just overall a nice rig for fun!

Hate to say it, but the best way to figure out what you'll like is to shoot/fondle some examples.

To your point on bedding, you really don't have to bed a Manners from what I understand. Full disclosure, I shoot MPA chassis for centerfire, but know quite a few guys that run Manners.

So as for my recommendation so I'm not just that butthole that craps all over your question and doesn't offer any real feedback... ;)
If you want a mainstream option, go for either an MPA, MDT, or Manners T4A or TCS. Point is, find something that will allow you to adjust length of pull, cheek riser, etc. You can also install an ARCA rail on the T4A, and the TCS comes with one (I believe).

Now one other option, there's a newer chassis on the market, the Ergo by Accuracy Addiction (LINK). My wife runs one for her NRL22 gun (as do a few other friends) and they all love it. The owner/creator is a great guy that's been in the precision shooting world a while, and the Ergo chassis will let you adjust almost everything that you'd want to make it a great fit. I'd get one if I didn't already have my centerfire in an MPA chassis and shoot base class in NRL22

Thanks for the feedback! Very much appreciated! I’ll check out the Ergo too!

First off what rifle do you plan to do this with? Most of my bolt rifles are in XLR Chassis of some form. I am a big fan of them, I have not seen the need to bed any of them.

XLR has options that will work for the Tikka T1x, CZ457, and of course the Vudoo and RimX since they are 700 clones. Do you shoot PRS or NRL? if so how is your rifle setup for that?

My last piece of advise is go to your local match, ask folks to get behind their rifle or even if you can shoot them, then you will know what you like and don't like. My guess is most everyone there will let you give it a whirl with their rig.

IDK if I would trust Neel -- he's an Indiana guy... ;)

Agreed 100000% with everything you wrote, Neel!

You gonna join us MO Misfits at NRL22 Nationals again this year?? And are you dragging John with ya?

Nationals is still open option for me, not 100% sure. I am not sure what the local celebrity is planning on just yet. Those MO Misfits are kinda crazy and rowdy ;).
