Do you have to shoot through the hole of the chair or can you turn the chair sideways?

I think that depends upon how the stage rules are written. If it does not say you cannot change the position of the chair, then you can. If I had thought about that at a recent long range rifle match, I think i could have easily doubled my score on a stage. If nothing else, it pays to ask for clarification from the RO. Then again, assuming the rules do not specifically forbid it, "'tis better to ask for forgiveness than for permission..."

More importantly, can you use the chair to rest or brace your body on?

I found that position building in weird places the most important thing, the targets are not hard to hit, but the positions and gyrations and time constraints are what make it challenging.

I’ve run it several times. 2 minutes is an eternity for this stage. Shouldn’t be a problem turning the chair. Even if it is, with the right bag and balancing the rifle correctly, not an overly hard stage to clear.

The discussion among the Match Directors was either shoot through the chair or turn it sideways. The National Match director stated either was fine.
