I'm just curious... Does anyone ever eat any of these pigs?
If we didn’t have welfare and food stamps hungry people would eat them.I was just curious. Seems like if there was a practical way, all these hogs could feed a lot of hungry people...but they'd have to be set up for processing a shit ton of pigs. Never mind refrigeration, distribution, etc...
I know they're pests/nuisance, just seems unfortunate that they can't be used for something practical. It'd be nice if the States would step in, to offer free collection and distribution of said porkers...
Maybe the money spent on food stamps should be spent on harvesting these pigs...seems like a twofer to me. Farmers/ranchers get the nuisance culled back, and people get fed with something they can’t use to buy cigarettes and booze. If we didn’t have welfare and food stamps hungry people would eat them.
During the mid 1950's there was one place in Mississippi that the deer population had been protected since the late 1930's. Most places in all states had very few deer left because they were killed off during the Depression to feed hungry people.Maybe the money spent on food stamps should be spent on harvesting these pigs...seems like a twofer to me. Farmers/ranchers get the nuisance culled back, and people get fed with something they can’t use to buy cigarettes and booze.
That would degrading and inhumane to feed poor people wild game. Just like when they talk about slaves that were forced to eat lobster 2 meals a week.If we didn’t have welfare and food stamps hungry people would eat them.
A conversation we have all too often.....seems like with all the money pumped into Ag bills and food subsidies some could be diverted to open public processing locations where piggies could be dropped, processed, and distributed to local folks in need. Win for the farmer, hunter, and general public.I was just curious. This is what I saw when I pulled into this field. There are 3-4 times this many running around this spot.

Food or Cigarettes + Booze.something they can’t use to buy cigarettes and booze.
There is a place about 40 miles South of where I hunt that will buy wild hogs, but they have to be alive. They’re butchered and exported for food. I’ve also heard of a place in North Texas that will buy dead ones to process and use for dog food, but that’s a long (6-7 hour) drive from where I am.I was just curious. Never a truer statement made.Oh you'll have no shortage of people who will always tell you, next time you go I want a pig. But when you call them the afternoon before going out to tell them you'll likely have them a pig later on that evening they always backstroke and say either they'll take one next time or they'll take it if I do all the work cleaning the nasty bastard and have it on ice for them.
Nope.
The buzzards are more than thankful.
So so so true.....my standard response now is....I will be back in town between 11:30 PM and 2:00 AM, do you want me to roll it off in the driveway or the front yard?......if someone really wanted one and just needed some help dealing with it I'd of course do so, but as you mentioned, most folks just want the iced down skinned and quartered version.....maybe with a little marinade already mixed in.....we do have some fat buzzards though!Oh you'll have no shortage of people who will always tell you, next time you go I want a pig. I will say this much. There are a few Vietnamese and Cambodians around here that it matters not the hour, location, or weather. You call them when they are needing a pig and they'll roll up several deep and make quick work of it.
Hootiewho, you getting any expansion out of those 300 BO 190gr Sub-X? How they working for you? I have some but haven’t used them yet.
Good seeing you here and back Hootie! They will expand a little. I've also had a couple where the tips bend and they tumble. When they do this you see a pretty big exit hole.
I picked off this shoat this morning for a Vietnamese buddy of mine. He’s the only person I know that’ll hunt with me whether it’s freezing cold and rainy or 100 degrees out, just for a chance to get a hog or a deer, then I have fight him to not to pay me for it. Unfortunately he’s a terrible shot.
They trying hard to implement it here. Interesting times ahead.Amazing what a little communist/socialist perspective brings. A bunch of spoiled Americans could use some.
Give some of the chickens some Grenades and send them to one of them Middle Eastern Suicide Training Camps. No use going out alone. My wife just watched a big bobcat get one of our chickens this morning. unfortunately I cant shoot or trap the damn thing. I believe he got another one yesterday as well. Not good.
WTF? Even if they are killing your stock? That seems uncivilized. My wife just watched a big bobcat get one of our chickens this morning. unfortunately I cant shoot or trap the damn thing. I believe he got another one yesterday as well. Not good.
Lol. $10 of chickens.WTF? Even if they are killing your stock? That seems uncivilized.
Lol. $10 of chickens.
How about the millions/billions of $$$ of stock and crop lost by commercial farmers to wolves/bears/black headed vultures/pigs/coons/deer/elk etc.
...when he has nothing left in a week, that's a big deal for him.Lol. $10 of chickens.

Here's what you can probably really do. I grew up trapping foxes and after a while they get pretty trap smart. Here is a technique I used to catch the smart ones.I dont believe I can here in Wisconsin. They are protected and can only be trapped. Is a limited draw tag.

Took my new .308 out that had been giving me fits due to an obstructed gas tube and then an undersized gas port on the barrel. I put my new Thermion XP50 on it that had been working great so far.
Right out of the truck, I have 11 dead pixels. Mother-Fu@k#r.
I was so pissed and cussing out Pulsar in my head that I almost walked by this sounder. Almost.
