I am basically lazy, so I don't like to redo things.

So I made up the attached Excel form to figure out the powder charge increments to run an OCW.

On the top section, there are spaces to fill in the various information so if you print or save it, you know what caliber, bullet, and powder it is for.

The only field that is required, is the Max charge weight field. From that, the spreadsheet calculates based on the OCW instructions page. The first weight is 10% less than Max. The next is 2% above that, the next is another 2% jump. Then you have a choice of .7% .85% or 1% increases for the next rounds. OCW instructions say use .7 - 1.0% increases, and .85% is the middle point between .7 and 1.0.

The spreadsheet checks the previous charge weight, and if it is above the Max, then it shows 0.0 for the rest of the increments. The OCW instructions say to load to the increment that just exceeds the max.

It tells you how many to load at each increment and a running total of rounds to a given increment.

Enjoy.

Version 1.02 - I added a section to put in the data from several sources for Min and Max Charge Weight. The spreadsheet then gives you the Average Max Charge Weight, the Low and High Max Charge Weights. YOU have to pick the one you want and put in the lower Max box to calculate the OCW loads.

Version 1.02a - Fixed problem with 1% column. Also added .xls version for those with older versions of Excel.

Version 1.02b - Fixed problem with indicating the highest max charge.

Glad you like it. Especially from Dan. :)

BTW, the spreadsheet is locked to avoid messing it up by mistake, but there is no password, you can unlock and tweek.

Updated to a new version.

This version adds space to put load data from several sources. And then gives you the Lowest, Highest and Average maximum charge. You pick what you want to use to calculate the OCW charges.

I can't open or download the file either. Guess I'll try later... few other things on the site don't appear to be working for me as expected.

For example, none of the thumbnail pictures are opening as expected after clicking on the thumbnail.

Strange, it seems the file did not end up in the ZIP.

I am traveling, so I will have to fix this when I get home this weekend. I don't have the file on my laptop. Or if someone could PM me the original working file, I can recreate 1.02.

The original file I uploaded had an error with the 1% column. That was fixed in version 1.01.

Sorry.

ARRRGH,

Version 1.02a - Fixed the problem with the 1% increment column. I also saved it as an Excel 2003 and earlier (.xls) version for those with older versions of Excel.

It seems I based 1.02 on 1.0, not 1.01. Fixed now.

You do have to Unzip the file. SH doesn't allow the upload of the native Excel file.
