My Hornady 308 Win die has started scratching the piss out of my casings, so time to get a new one. I use Win brass almost exclusively with loaded cartridges running around .333" at the neck and I want .002-.003" neck tension, so I need a die to produce sized cases at ~.330-.331". Does the "plain Jane" Redding sizer do this? Or must I spend the extra bucks on the FL bushing die and get a bushing or two?

If anyone has the "plain Jane" Redding FL die, what do your necks measure after sizing?

Normally I wouldn't ask, but times are tight right now after dropping a chunk of change on an NXS F1.

Thanks for the help!

i'd go with the bushing die and a bushing .002 under the loaded neck size of your rounds. I just replaced a forester neck die that scrached the piss out of the neck now if the bushing go's to shit all i have to do is replace the bushing.I also got the titanium bushing around $25.00 bushings are cheaper than a new die down the road. my .02

It's likely your sizer is fine, just has bits of brass galled on the wall due to insufficent case lube. It's not very difficult to remove that.

You're absolutely correct. Any advice on how to get the brass out? I've tried solvents, bore mops, and "light" brushing with a bronze brush and can't seem to get it out. Is it time to get some Sweets 7.62 and let it soak with that?
