Our next FV 200yd F-Class match will be held November 7th.

Registration begins at 10:00 AM. Match fee is $10

We operate a modified F-Class match to introduce new shooters to the venue. It`s a good way to to be introduced to the COF, yet we allow coaching all the way thru your relay. We tend to shoot 20 rounds, call a cease-fire for 15 or 20 minutes to allow the rifles to cool down a bit, then resume for another 30 minute relay to finish the full match. (A total of 40 rounds for score)

I monitor the weather forecast here, and you can too...

The above link is for Montour Falls, which is 5 minutes away, or in the NOAA seach box, type in Odessa 14869 if you prefer.

We have enjoyed a wide spectrum of rifles in some interesting calibers (with and without brakes!) so bring what you have and come shoot with us.

Thanks!

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class November 7th

I'll be there Scotty, providing my new scope arrives on time. I believe Kasumi & Rupert are keen as well. Of course, this assumes there is'nt two feet of "southern tier" snow on the ground (you do have a sno-blower, don't you?).

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class November 7th

Well..., if I huff..., and I puff...

Looking forward to this one. I've been on this bench too long. Put me in, Coach...

Snow shovels and I have this agreement. I don't wave them around, and they don't wave me around. Spirits say yea, ticker say nay.

Sled;

FYI, I was at Wallyworld yesterday and noticed that Winchester has started marketing a number of lines of gear under their own label, like Limbsaver, and Uncle Mike's. One of the items was a (probably knockoff) bipod that's visually identical to the Harris Bipod I lent you. Sticker said $43.

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class November 7th

I'm in and thinking about lunch and a pint at the Rooster Fish Brewery afterwards. Or if I'm lucky and not driving 2 pints !

Doug is dumping his Bushnell and mounting up a MK4 6-20x-50mm TMR reticle, watch out, he might be able to see what he's doing now. his last time out he scored a 189 25V w/ the Bushnell

Jim is having hand surgery today, we all wish him well and speedy recovery. He might sneak away if we carry all his gear and set him up.

I'm bringing a laser pointer and going to mess with KMussack while he's shooting. Its the only way I can get the better of him, he's been consistent all summer, a good shooter Fo Sure!
I think Curt and I are due for a 195+, we'll see what happens.

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class November 7th

I`ve been chatting via PM`s with someone in the Rochester area about coming to our match for the first time. If he`s viewing this, you could see if Kasumi or someone else in the same area can assist with getting here Saturday with no issues...

I can tell you this much...he`s not bringing a BR gun in 6PPC, so I`m sure everyone in Open Class will welcome him.

Yes, we do have our fun here don`t we Rob?

At this point it looks like we won`t have to deal with snowflakes yet.

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class November 7th

Scotty: your Rochester contact can PM either Kasumi or myself if he is interested. We always meet somewhere on the "eastside" for breakfast before heading down to Odessa, and maybe he can hook-up with us then if convenient.

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class November 7th

Iron Sights may be a tad difficult on a gray bull that's 1MOA in diameter.

I think I'm going to try something completely different.

I'll bring a small stack of my PalmaV200 targets for you to try out, at your own option. That would give you an even break, and be in compliance with the NRA-style target variations we base our FV200 targets on.

The aiming bull (3-ring) is 6" in diameter, the V-ring is 2" and the 5-ring is 4", in compliance with the differences between NRA F Class and Palma targets.

It could even make it possible to open this sort of comp up to the non-F Class shooters, the way things used to be shot at Bodines. If I can get this danged busted wing of mine to work properly, I might even consider bringing my Garand out to play, one of these fine and lovely Autumn days.

I've got ten single bull targets printing out as I type.

Scotty: "Fuzzy" has contacted both Kasumi & myself, and we're trying for a rendezvous Saturday morning pending his availability. The more "Rochester Guys" the better !

Does that give anybody an advantage?

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class November 7th

From what I`ve witnessed the last 2 years that we have had these matches, the bolt gun has, by a rather large margin, posted the higher score. The gas guns that have done well, do so for one 20 round relay, but not the other.

If you will, look at it this way... The F/TR 308 Win. bolt guns outnumber all others combined here. I could pair you up with any of these gentlemen and that in itself is worth an additional 10 points, maybe more for your "1st" match. (Is it?)

We want you to post the best score possible, and the fact that I allow coaching the whole match is what seems to help.

Afterwards, if you attend a sanctioned match, you`ll know how it`s done and can focus on the shooting...not the "how do I do this?"

Our friends there in the Rochester area may agree.

For some reason mine usually shoots better in the second relay. Or maybe it's because I'm settled in, not the gun. Regardless, I have something new in the safe

Unfortunately, I won't make it this weekend.

Gas or Bolt

If I recall Woody did very well with his RR AR, shot in the 190's with ~20V.

I have a new DPMS LR308, I may give that a try next year, so far results with FGMM and the AE 168 OTM are very good.

I also have a Rem700 .223 in a McMillan A2, it just got shipped back from GAP. Heck I might start shooting TWO relays.

Scott will that cost me $20 ?

Re: Gas or Bolt

I`m sure more will want to "recreate" after the match. You certainly can shoot again with no additional fee. (Your first time counts for the match)

I may bring the K31 Swiss and do the same...for the steel gongs, not paper.

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class November 7th

The weather is looking good.

With any luck we'll be there....... I tried out a new load today though. Between the sun, rain, sleet and snow I found that I am not sure I'm any further ahead than I was a month ago. Maybe I was expecting a little to much but we'll see how it pans out at 200yds.

175smk, 44.0 Varget, 2.815oal, Fed brass and CCI primes out of my wifes SPS-T with the USO ST10 off of my rifle, fingers will be crossed for fair results.

6:30am, GAP Rifle, check. Ammo, check, shooting mat and spotting scope, check.

I'm on my way to Odessa........

Meeting Doug and a new shooter Fuzzytek for breakfast and we are on the road!

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class November 7th

Well another missed match for us, not happy. Time to start getting the house in order for a relo to Virginia this coming week.

I hope the scores are better this weekend for you guys than the past showing. Wish we were there.
