Thanks, all I need now is an ultra short or the new kahles so I have room for a clip on. Not much real estate up top on the coverts
I put a half inch YHM riser on mine, it handles a big old PVS 30 and helps it over my supressor. I also put. 5 inch riser in back as well which shortens my eye relief when using my thermal.

The Yankee hill machine risers is the only riser I would use, others were too flimsy

Just got a S&b 3-20 pmii ultra short, what scope mount would you guys recommend to mate with the scope? So many options out there, I really like the QD mounts as well. Thanks in advance guys/gals
Have a look at the Spuhr products. Innovative and intelligent design with a lot of flexibility to mount accessories if desired. Easy scope leveling solution built in, precision machining guarantees concentricity. They’re expensive but they’re awesome.

I only have had one other bolt action rifle before saving and saving and saving for my SRS. As I have started the 3rd round of reloading my 308 brass I was noticing some scratches along the brass from the shoulder to the base. nothing to serious but as I looked closer at the the dummy round I made to dry fire, there is places where the brass has been scraped off and I can feel the divots with my finger nail. I wanted to check with you guys and see if your magazines do this as well? I never noticed this on my model 70 and am thinking I could polish the feed lips on the magazine unless there were some other suggestions. Thank you guys.

I have a couple of mags that are sharp and do that. Probably should clean them up. But the ones I mostly use are nice and smooth. There was a time I kept buying mags. Lol. I got more than I probably need. There’s some pics in the thread about it. Could be in scout though idk.

I'm a big fan of the ARC M10 rings. The Unimount lends itself to quick detach if needed, but has allen heads to torque to spec also. The 1 screw and clam shell design makes it incredibly convenient for mounting without torquing the scope side/side. Additionally, Spuhr is good, but I hate the chincy screws they use, not to mention 12 screws vs 2 of the ARC.

I also have this problem but am not reloading yet so haven't dealt with it

I ended up ordering the spuhr qdp 4602. Got it for only 385 so I jumped on it. Originally it was 495. I may switch if it doesn't work out but I think it will. I emailed spuhr and that's what they recommend. Appreciate the input.

My 300 Norma is alive! Loaded 5 rounds with 225 ELD-M's and H1000 this morning. Two shots to zero and then this :

Not to shabby for zero load development and only 5 rounds down it . This thing is going to be super easy to tune. Velocities were 2965 and an ES of 6 . I drank the Norma koolaid and man it tastes good so far .

Rounds 6 , 7 and 8 out of my new 300 Norma with a thoroughly cleaned bore . ES of 2 on these 3 rounds, this thing is making it easy on load development.

That ES is awesome! The last time I was out doing load development, one of my flat spots had an ES of 3 over .6 grains. I told anyone that would listen But of course no one really got how awesome that is. Congratulations again!

One thing that gave me confidence in getting a SRS is the tiny groups consistently shot by lots of users. Ran out of 6.5 ammo yesterday banging steel. Swapped over to the factory 308 barrel. 2 shots on left for sighting, then 8 in the hole on the right.

8 shots? That’s not just an incredible rifle, that is incredible shooting! It’s hard for me to get that focus after a couple of good shots. I definitely psych myself out.

I used to have a rifle with a stupid light and guts trigger, but it had a lot of over travel. I shot good with it but when I got my DT for whatever reason I noticed that I was naturally following through better due to minimum overtravel. It reminded me to focus on this. My group shooting instantly improved. Additionally I shot that pretty fast. I’ve shot my best groups when I’m not thinking about it and I just find a good cadence. When the reticle is where I want it I break the shot. I have never been a great group shooter but that has started to change with multiple barrels in my DT.

Question for everyone.....I have barrels in .308 and 300 norma. I'd like to get 1 to 2 more barrels for my DT. What cartridges are you running in your DT? I have an SRS A1. I'd love to run 280 ackley because 1) It's a great cartridge 2) I have a lot of brass, bullets, powder, and dies for it. After talking with Mark at SAC I'm a little hesitant given the potential feeding issues. A hot 6mm would be fun, but I don't compete so I don't know how practical that would be. I punch paper, ring steel, and hunt. Anyway, just curious what everyone else is running. I'm loving this rifle so much I want to get a couple more barrels but I'll be damned if I can decide what to get :)

I am having trouble convincing myself of the benefit of .223 conversion given it's cost vs just continuing to shoot .308, since I don't reload and match ammo is approximately the same price.

I completely understand what you're saying. However, you could apply that logic to every potential conversion if all you plan to do is target shoot out to a maximum of 1000 yards. The reason most of us have multiple conversions has nothing to do with "need" and everything to do with fun.

I have five different conversions now. My first was a 260 Remington that I still shoot regularly and thoroughly enjoy. The other four can't do anything the 260 can't do but they're all fun to shoot.

I'm not a professional operator as is true with the vast majority of members on this forum. We shoot because we enjoy it. That's all the justification I ever need to buy another conversion kit.

Personally I feel naked if I don't have a 308.

Yeah the price of it is the only reason I haven’t bought one. Would love one but keep buying other calibers instead because they only cost me $800-$900 and not $1,700. I hear they shoot great but I already have a 223 that shoots lights out.
